Look and see if there is a tiny hole somewhere on the face of the drive. If so, you can use something like a straightened out paperclip and insert it carefully into the hole to release the drive door.

How to open disk drive

Why open the disk drive? Unless it is already malfuctioning, opening the drive could introduce foreign matter into unit that might cause premature failure.

If still wanna open, use the special small screw driver and do the deed with 6 or 7 screws. BTW, if drive is warrantied, opening unit will void the warranty.

How do I open disk drive on my acer laptop 17883

Three ways:-
1. Select drive on Windows file explorer, right click and select "Eject"
2. Press the button on the drive opening.
3. There is usually a small pinhole on the drive opening, you can push the end of a paper clip in there to manually release the drive and open it.

How do i open a disk drive to a acer aspire e touch

well it sounds to me like you are just trying to open the drive to insert a disk ? go to "computer" or "my computer" on the desktop, double click to open. you should see your hard drive "c" and cd/dvd drive "d" listed. right click the "d" drive, left click eject, voila. if you have more than one hard drive or a partitioned drive there might well be more drive letters but your cd/dvd drive will be marked as such. alternatively click "start", bottom left of desktop, click "computer" and once again you should see your drives listed. physically there should be , on the cd/dvd drive drawer itself a small button, push it once to open. failing all else, there should be a very small hole in the drive drawer, using say a paper clip or similar, insert into the small hole and push reasonably firmly, this should release the drawer manually and the drive will open. hope that helps. good luck.

CD-RW drive won't open, only beeps when trying to open.

Look for a hole on the front tray a little bigger then a pinhole. Straighten out a paper clip and insert it into the hole to eject the CD.

My acer x1700 cd drive wont open.. i can hear it attempt to open. i do not have an emergency bottom or push out hole. please help many thanks

CD Drive Tray problems
There are two ways to open the CD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drive tray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive tray pops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CD disc.
If you continue having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD drive is faulty and needs replacing.

CD stuck in Asus desktop optical drive

On the CDrom drive, there is a small hole near the button to open the drive. Insert the tip of a straightened paper clip into the hole and press gently. The drive should open to allow you to remove the disk that is stuck.

I can get the disk tray open.

Is the drive being recognized in windows? If not at all then it may need to be replaced as it has totally died on you.

On the drive door there will be a pin sized hole. This is the 'emergency' release. You insert a paper clip or a pin and it releases the catch and the door will pop open. Do with with the power OFF. If that won't open the door then it is probably jammed or siezed. At this point you would have to pry it open which can cause damage to the drive if done too roughly. If you have something like a sticker or say two cd's in the drive then once you get it starting to open the trick is to firmly but gently and evenly pull on the sides of the door and then the body. Usually they will fight up to a point then open. When you get it open make sure you find and clear or clean the cause. The next time you have to open it may not go as easy.

If you need to replace the drive that is covered under warrenty or can be purchased third party for about $80 and up for a new drive.

Dvd door will not open

There should be a small hole on the face of the drive that will allow you to use a straitened paper clip or a pin to open the drive manually. If there is a disk in the drive it may have come off the spindle jamming the tray. After you get the tray open see if the drive will read a disk and operate properly with the button or software command to open. If nether will open the drive the problem is most likely hardware if the button will open the drive but you cannot open it with a command then the driver is most likely the cause and should be available from Acer.

Cd drive opening and closing on its own

You never should have pried it open. Only use the manual eject pin-hole with a paperclip. Noe it seems the drive tray is damaged and will not close properly so it is constantly opening and closing trying to find home. The drive will need replaced.
