Medion Desktop won't boot. Flickering power light????

Posted by rbuckman on Dec 24, 2008 Medion desktop. Shut down machine for a four day vacation. Upon arrival home, tried to start up machine. Fans run, power light flickers weakly with synchronized clicking sounds - machine will not boot. No perceptible hard drive hits. If speakers are on you can hear the clicking as interference.

No noise at all coming from hard drive. Clicking coming either from power supply or mother board? (If I unplug the the hard drive the clicking is still present).

Monitor does not connect at all. Acts as if the computer is off.

I just re-read this and notice that you said that the power led is flickering weakly. If that is the case, then the power supply is at fault. Unplug the unit from the wall, wait aseveral minutes, then restart.

Clicking usually means that the hard drive has a problem. Open the side and listen to see if the clicking is indeed coming from the HD. If so, it needs to be replace.

I agree with the hard drive solution. I would check that first.

Won't start but CPU fan vibrates but will not go full blast. Intermittant

It appears you have a faulty CPU fan and it is causing the CPU to overheat and shut down.
I suggest you replace the CPU fan. remove any dust from the heatsink and put new heatsink compound on the CPU/heatsink.

Medion desktop does not boot up, screen blank.

Had same sounding problem with a Medion PC myself. I don't know the cause exactly but the fix I have is this:
Switch off PC, switch off PSU and unplug the power cable from the PC. Then press the power button on your PC. You may see lights and fans start up for just a brief second. This is because there was still charge in the PSU's capacitors which we needed to clear out.

You can now plug the power cable back in, switch on the PSU and turn your PC on.

(I realise this is too late for the original poster's uses but others may find it useful when searching for a problem!)

Medion PC model MD 1777 wabout 4 yrs old will not start/boot up. Blue light just flickers continusly and makes a tapping sound.

Remove any disk inserted n your computer (floppy or cd) and try again.
Check the cables connection and monitor connection.
If no boot, try boot your PC using the CD restore provided with your machine

EMachine T1440 will no boot on

There is a battery inside the pc, remove it and replace it with a new one. Leaving it unplugged for that long taxes the battery too much. This should help and also plug everything in and reset the power switch on the back.
