Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Just bought a new 32" floor model tv from circuit city. The brand name is Element. I have hooked it up and am watching tv. Problem is when I want to switch the input from cable to side input to play my PS3 I'm unable to do so from the remote or tv. The up/down, side to side arrow buttons (as well as the enter button) on the remote do not seem to be working at all. Other buttons on the remote are working though. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

SOURCE: WD-52628 Mitsubishi - change inputs

We had the same problem. Luckily, we had a service contract, so it was serviced yesterday. The fix involved the service guy going through a "service menu" and resetting the TV that way. He was not "allowed" to tell me how I can access the service menu, however. I do plan to research this on the internet in case it happens in the future. It is basically a software/computer problem, and unplugging the TV isn't enough to clear it unless the TV is unplugged for "a long time." The technician said the length of time depends on the condition of your capacitors. Anyway, as a temporary fix, he showed me that you can go into the PIP mode. The device toggle for PIP apparently did still work with mine, so I was able to switch the device on the secondary picture and then switch it to primary, then toggle the PIP off. Good luck!

SOURCE: turn off closed caption on input(component) on Sharp Aquos 42"

Had this happen on a Comcast box (Motorola DCT 6416 III)
Here's how to fix it:
Turn the cable box off, leave fully connected. Press Menu on the remote
The cable box internal menu will display (Not the Comcast one the Motorola one-- i.e. Display ratios-16:9 etc It's in black and white)
Use the arrows to cursor to the Closed Captioning and toggle to "Disabled" Press Manu again to exit and Voila!

Power the box on an have at it

For the Item: Living Solutions Colossal 3-in-1 (606426)

Look in this link (it's the manual for the remote). It may help. Just copy the link to the address bar & download the file. It's a zip folder.

The only was to be sure is to try a different device connected and cable. Try the device you has issues with your TV on another TV if you do not have other devices. Try also a different port to check if the physical port has gone bad. If all would not make a difference, your digital board may have gone bad.

Send the set back for service.

The power supply most likely failed, or another circuit board has failed and the set is in the protect mode.

I would consider to see if the dealer would exchange the set for a well known quality brand name set and pay the difference.
