Question about Logitech Harmony 670 LCD Remote Control

Open Question

Trying to select lower case

We are trying to enter our security key for an On Demand Dual Band Wireless -N Adapter. Our security key has lower case letters in it and the remote will not give us an option for lower case. Scrolling through the button only gives upper case and number and no lower case option.

We have been on the phone with various people at Direct TV and no one has been able to correct the problem or tell us how to select lower case on the remote. The remote is a FCC ID: MG32481.

I found one forum which mentioned changing the security key to all CAPS, but we are not interested in changing all other hardware already set up, especially since the Forum indicated it didn't really serve as a long term solution.

SOURCE: remote stopped working

Hey!

I have found when you are not able to control devices, a firmware update will sometimes fix the issue. If you do not know how to do a firmware update, please look at the following link:

http://logitech-en-emea.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_emea.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=10747

If the firmware update does not work, you may have to learn the power commands from the original remotes. The following link shows how this is done:

http://logitech-en-emea.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_emea.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=9603

I hope this helps!!!

SOURCE: I am trying to set up the

I have seen channel designations like this when using a satellite TV provider. From what I know (which is not a lot, I'm afraid) is that some affiliates offer analog and digital and digital sub channels so an example would be:

05 (main analog channel)
05-1 'digital' (depending on the receiver)
05-2 'digital sub channel'
05-3 'digital sub channel'
etc

So, you may want to try just putting in the main channel '05' when using the Logitech software to program your favorites. Below is a link to a good post on the Logitech forum that tells how to program your favorites. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: I have chnged from direct tv to dish how do i

Hey!

You would want to replace the current direct TV on your account with the dish, the following link shows how this is done:

http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_amr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=12378

If you have a dish network, you may have to make some changes in order for the harmony remote to control it. I found the link below helps but it didnt work exactly for mine so you may have to contact your service provider:

http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_amr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=12150

Hope this helps!

1, You should always secure your Wireless. 2, try different channels, setup the dual-bands as 2 SSID, 1-2.4 and the other as 5.0 with diferent channels. I would suspect it's the laptop, Disable the UAC and the Anti Virus. Is the wireless adapter, on the laptop turned on? Do you see the Wireless listed in Available Wireless Networks? Start with the router. On a PC that you have connecting to the router, open a browser and enter http://192.168.0.1/ Login as admin with the password you setup. Use the wireless setup wizard to walk through establishing Internet connection with your internet provider. Set your SSID and security protocol and key. Save settings and wait for router to restart.

From Vista PC with wireless adapter, be sure to check d-link site for latest driver. Right click on network icon in lower right (task area) and select Connect to and view available networks. You should see the SSID save on the router. Click on it and choose connect. You will be prompted for the security key.

Post back if have more issues.

I am trying to configure my wireless router for wpa-personal wireless security

It is recommended to enable encryption on your wireless router before your wireless network adapters. Please establish wireless connectivity before enabling encryption. Your wireless signal may degrade when enabling encryption due to the added overhead. Before you start make sure your computer is directly connected to your router.

1- open a browser and on the address box type the following and press enter ---> http://192.168.0.1
2- on the next screen you will be asked for your routers username and password in order to login. If you have'nt change this information before you can use the following (click log in after)
Username : admin
Password: password
3- once you are in, on the left side menu click on
WIRELESS SETTINGS
4- on the next screen you will see below
WIRELESS SECURITY MODE:
Security Mode:-___________________
Next to Security Mode, select Enable WPA-Personal Security
5- a new menu appears below and asks for the following:
Next to Cipher Mode select--->Auto.
Next to Personal/Enterprise select---> Personal.
Next to Passphrase, enter a key (passphrase). The key is an
alpha-numeric password between 8 and 63 characters long. The password can include symbols (!?*&_) and spaces. Make sure you enter this key exactly the same on all other wireless clients.
Enter the passphrase again next to Confirmed Passphrase.
6- Click Save Settings to save your settings. If you are configuring the router with a wireless adapter, you will lose connectivity until you enable WPA-PSK (or WPA2-PSK) on your adapter and enter the same passphrase as you did on the router.

If you have further questions please do not hesitate to ask me...Good Luck!!!

Possible reason why your computer is not getting online wirelessly is because the wireless settings on the router and the wireless settings on your computer do not match. Here are some troubleshooting steps that I suggest you try:

A. Checking the Wireless Settings of the Router

Note: You need to use a computer hardwired to the router to check the wireless settings.

1. Open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
2. Connect to the router by typing http://routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm or http://192.168.1.1 in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
3. A window will prompt for a user name and password. The default username is "admin" and the default password is "password".

Note: If it doesn't take password as the password, you might have changed it when you have run the NETGEAR Setup CD so please try other passwords. If you can't remember the password, you need to reset the router and run the Setup CD to reconfigure it.

4. When the setup page opens, click on the Wireless Settings under Setup and take note of the SSID.
5. You may also change the wireless channel here. We suggest channels 1, 6 and 11.
6. At the bottom of the page, look for the Security Options. If in case that the security is set to WEP or WPA-PSK, we have to enter the same wireless security on all wireless PCs. To make sure of the key, we can try modifying the security. Please refer to the following:

For WEP: Select Key 1 and enter 10 hexadecimal digits (0-9 and A-F) on the empty box beside it. Then, click on Apply.

For WPA-PSK: Enter an alphanumeric key (minimum of 8 characters) on the Passphrase box and click on Apply.

Note: The Key and Passphrase are case-sensitive.

7. On the left pane, please scroll down and click on Wireless Settings under Advanced. Please make sure that the boxes for Enable Wireless Router Radio and Enable SSID Broadcast are checked.
8. Click on the Setup Access List button and uncheck the box Turn Access Control On.
9. Click the Apply button.

B. Connecting to the Wireless Network

For Windows XP Service Pack 1:

1. Please right click on the Wireless icon on the right lower end portion of your computer. Then click on View Available Wireless Networks.
2. Click on the Advanced tab.
3. Please delete all the preferred networks then click on OK.
4. Right click on the Wireless icon again and click on View Available Wireless Networks.
5. Please select your network and click on Connect. If you have Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) or Wi-fi Protected Access (WPA) enabled on the router, it will ask you for the network key. Please type in the Network Key and then confirm it.
6. Make sure not to enable IEEE and then click on Connect.

For Windows XP Service Pack 2:

1. Please right click on the Wireless icon on the right lower end portion of your computer. Then click on View Available Wireless Networks.
2. Click on the Change Advanced Settings.
3. Click on the Wireless Networks tab remove all the preferred networks then click on OK.
4. Right click on the Wireless icon then click on View Available Wireless Networks.
5. Select your network and click on Connect.
6. If you have Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) or Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) enabled on the router, it will ask you for the network key. Type in the network key and confirm it. Then click on Connect.

For Windows Vista:

1. Click Start then select Connect To.
2. Connect to a network window will show up.
3. Select your wireless network and click Connect.
4. It will ask you for a network key. Type in the network key and confirm it. Then click on Connect.

Note: You may use the wireless utility of your wireless adapter in connecting to the wireless network but you need to clear "Use Windows to configure my wireless networks" on the Wireless Networks tab.

We hope that the above steps provided would help resolve the problem. If the steps above did not work, we will need to get some additional details from you to be able to assist you further. I have summarized my questions below:

1. Can your computer go online when it is hardwired to the router?
2. What wireless adapter are you using?
3. What is the operating system of your computer?

Security Keys or Passphrase

  1. Now we will secure you wireless connection to prevent others from connecting. Under the Home tab, click the Wireless option from the left.
  2. Beside the SSID option, enter the name for your wireless network connection.
  3. Beside Security, select WPA. If you can’t connect using WPA, then select WEP. Using WPA will provide a much more secure connection that using WEP. For more information about WEP and WPA please read Wireless Security: WEP and WPA.
  4. Click AES beside the Cypher Type.
  5. Make sure PSK is selected beside PSK/EAP.
  6. Now you must get very creative. Specify a long Passphrase with a mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers and punctuation. Once again, please read Creating Secure Passwords for tips on how to do this. In this case the longer the better. Make sure you write down this key somewhere, either on a piece of paper or in a text document on your computer. You will need this information when you connect to your wireless network.
  7. Enter your passphrase next to Passphrase and again beside Confirmed Passphrase.
  8. Click Apply to save your security settings.
  9. Now you are all done securing your wireless router and network. All you need to do is connect to your network, and enter your Passphrase exactly as you specified it. I won’t go into detail on how to connect to your wireless network, as I will save that for another post.
