Question about Projection Televisions

Convergence Problem and Contrast Adjustment

I have been working on my daughter's rear projection TV convergence problem. Today I replaced the two convergence amplifier IC's, which fixed the initial problem of the blue being non-adjustable for targets 3, 6 and 9. Those dial in just fine now, as do all the other Convergence Adjustment 2 menu targets. However, on Convergence Adjustment 1 (white target in the center of the screen) the blue adjusts through about an inch range, although I cannot bring it far enough left to converge with the white target. I am out about 1/4'' to the right on the blue at the full left limit. The green is adjusted to align with the calibration marks on the screen frame, and the red convergence adjusts just fine. Is there a physical adjustment required to the blue CRT, or a sub-menu (serviceman adjustment) to bias that blue CRT centering further to the left? Also, on the Picture menu there is no Contrast adjustment. Where and/or how do I adjust contrast? The picture is plenty bright, but the contrast is too high and much of the fine detail is lost. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

For some reason, the make and model didn't post. The TV in question is a Panasonic Rear Projection PT-53WX52F.

No, I didn't check the resistors, but none showed any sign of discoloration or heat stress. The IC replacement came off without a hitch. The defectives came out on the first try, and the new ones dropped right in. I'll check techlore for your manual. Thanks for the tip. Do you have any suggestions on the contrast adjustment? Is that something that is accessable through the Service Menu? Thanks -- ****

I just checked the manual at techlore.com and I get a "File Damaged and Cannot Be Repaired" message in Adobe Reader at the end of the download. I downloaded another manual and it went fine. FYI.

Have you checked all of the resistors inthe convergence circuit as well? If not, check them for the correct impedance.. Remember, you have to pull one side of the resistor out of circuit to measure it correctly.
If all of the resistors are good, then you have to do a coarse convergence adjustment on the set through the service menu.. if you need the service manual for the convergence directions, I have one uploaded in the technicians corner of techlore.com

Have convergence IC's replaced. I believe this unit uses STK-392-570 convergence IC's Only one has gone bad but replace them both, because if one has failed then the other is not far behind, for Blue and Green. One handles Red, One handles BLUE and Grn. There are only two of them in the set, They are the two largest IC's in the entire set.
