Could be vertical circuit problems (IC) also could be video problems. Probably gave some kind of indication of going out, most people look over it. Did you see at anytime your picture shrinking? Line always across(Thin and white color) Could be high voltage not coming up because some short.

It is. And I hope you some cash set aside for this extremely costly repair.
I once had a rear projection TV and was told by the repairman that each of the 3 flourescent lamps run about $200.00 to replace.
Needless to say I did not get it fixed

Rear Projection has perfect picture but no sound.
