I'm trying to transfer some music from my Ipod (it's a 160 GB black Apple Classic) to my computer (it's a MacBook). I have the application Tune Tools, and have used it successfully in the past, but never with this particular Ipod. The problem isn't even in getting my music from my ipod to tune tools, it's earlier, because I have clicked ''Refresh Ipod and Itunes Data'' and it just says it's continuously refreshing, and when I click on ''Detect a new Ipod'' it says there is no ipod detected. However, my ipod is showing up fine on the computer itself and on itunes, as well as on other computers. Also, Tune Tools seems to be functioning well, because I tried hooking up my older ipod, a nano, 5th generation i think, and it detected that just fine. I'm getting very frustrated and am hoping that I can get some help.

You may need to restore the iPod in iTunes. You could try to install Tune Tools on another Mac and see if it works there. It is possible that the software version you have does not support the Classic. There may be an updated version that you need to install to use it with the Classic. Check the authors site or the documentation for supported models.

Before you connect the iPod, you should install iTunes. The program is free and can be downloaded form the Apple support page. After installing, you better first setup your account. The same name you used to buy the music in the first place. Then connect the iPod to the computer and wait till iTunes starts and shows you the iPod.
Perhaps you have to authorise the PC with the account. You can have up to 5 authorised PC's with one account.
In order to put music onto your iPod, follow these steps:
1. Download iTunes from http://apple.com/itunes. iTunes is used to manage your music library, as well as handle the transfer of music from your computer to the iPod.
2. Install iTunes.
3. Add music to your iTunes library by selecting the 'File' menu at the top of the screen, then clicking 'Add music to library'. Browse your computer for music files and click 'Choose' in the dialog box.
4. Connect your iPod to your computer with the included Dock Connector cable. iTunes will recognize the iPod and walk you through setting it up and transferring music.
be careful, you may lose all your data. i have lost all my videos and music last month. so i think you should backup your music/videos to your PC before itunes not work or other
emergency incidents, to prevent important data loss.
I recommend u Daniusoft iTransfer. many of my friends are using this product. it can help u to transfer music /videos from iPod/iPhone to your computer and backup them. then you
dont have to worry about data loss.
Try to transfer them from your computer and dont copy from one playlist to another..
Also make sure that you transfer the songs from one to another ipod using the same computer.. Maybe this is the problem
probably not... but you can try these: while the iPod is plugged in, toggle the hold switch on and off (slide it to hold, then slide it back again), then press and hold the "menu" button and the center button until you see the apple logo on the screen, if this doesn't fix it... try a different USB port (use one on the computer itself, not your keyboard or hub), if this doesn't work... restart your computer and make sure you have the latest updates for your computer, if this doesn't work... call apple at this link:
Make sure you got the latest itunes version and latest ipod classic version. Also you need to be on the original computer you used to sync with the ipod. Open up itunes and connect the ipod. Your ipod should show up on the computer. Just click on the restore itunes back to factory default button and you should be g to g.
I just purchased Tunes Tool 2.0 today. I hoped to use it to transfer songs from my Windows iPod video to my MacBook. When I installed Tune Tools, the same problem occurred that you all were having; It could not detect my iPod and gave me a notification about a null iPod. I figured out how to fix this, and all my songs were able to be transfered onto my mac flawlessly. The steps I used are listed below.
1) Open Tune Tools and iTunes.
2) Plug in your iPod.
3) In iTunes, click the summary tab (if not already selected)
4) On the Summary page, check the box that says "Enable Disk Use"
5) A message will pop up, click OK
6) Open Tune Tools, and Your iPod's library should be there. If not, you may have to reconnect your iPod.
7) You will have to manually highlight all the songs you want to be transfered from your iPod to your computer.
8) Once all the songs you want have been selected, drag to your iTunes Library in Tune Tools.
9) A blue bar should appear and tell you that your music is being transfered.
10) The songs will be transfered from your iPod to your computer.
