Question about D-Link RangeBooster G WBR-2310 Wireless Router (WBR2310)

1 Answer

The broadcast signal is not showing up.

Well this all started when I downloaded Network Magic trial, and I added the security feature, it was going normal. Then I went to the 192.168.0 thing or w/e the IP is. So I changed some range setting from Something-G to Dual-G or something like that and it said resetting device. Ever since than the router stopped broadcasting. When I try to reset it, the little circle with the triangle keeps blinking and the broadcast signal is not showing up. I tried everything but not working. Any help will be much appreciated.

Find the reset button on your router. hold it in for a few seconds and it'll be back to default settings.

Need wireless network name (SSID)

SSID are always set by owner of the Network. If its hidden and not broadcasting its a security feature of the router. If you have the router with you. access the routers IP address and under Wireless settings it will show there the SSID name. thanks

Will not broadcast

You may have turned the feature off for security purposes. Use the manugacturers software to gain access and turn broadcast back on.

Give Network Magic (search the name) a try if you like - it can help you with all these things as well.

Time warner network will not let excess of my laptop computer to the internet.

This doesn't make sense. They sell you the service then will not let you on? something else is going on here.

Please check your firewall settings, reduce the protection level to medium.

You may have a block in your wireless. I recomment Network Magic, a network manager. NM will aid you in connectivity issues, security, device sharing, setup and many other important network management issues. Find it here for a free trial:

Following the free period, you can stil continue to use the product though some features will not be available. On the other hand, you may love it like I do and pay the couple $ to have the full versiopn

I do not know how to lock my wi fi

I don't understand your term "lock". Do you want to prevent unauthorized users from accessing your system? Or, do you want to prevent someone from lifting it as in 'LOCK it to the radiator'?

Several things come to mind, you can turn off the "broadcast" feature, you can require a password for access, you can set your devide to allow only devices for which you have entered the MAC address. You can do any or all of these and maybe even more.

I recommend you get the free to evaluate version of Network Magic from Cisco. This is a teriffic network management program. I use the paid pro version and I love it.

get it at

In addition to security, NM helps you to share resources and to repair failed connections

I hope this helps

Having trouble connecting. I see my encrypted router, but it shows as "unknown." And when I try to connect with it, connection fails. Says not in range although I'm in my own house. :o)

you said that you can see the wireless network but it shows as unknown network
I think SSID broadcast on your wireless network must be disabled.
You will need to enable the SSID broadcast of your network.
Also try to change the wireless channel on the router.
WRT54G router's IP address will be if you have not changed it.
Do you have any other computer connected to the router woth the ethernet cable ?
If you do not have the computer connected to the route then connect 1 computer to the rotuer with the ethernet cable.
Do not change any wireless setting on the wireless computer.
You will need to open the set up page of the router
Click Here for more info about how to change the wireless settings

Turn it off - you will have the power!

You could do a couple things ... limit the IP addresses it will allow access (will erquire you assign static IP addresses) ... turn off the broadcast feature ... set a good strong password on it ... set it to respond to the MAC addresses found on YOUR machines only.

How to do this ...

this router is a Cisco product. Network Magic is a Cisco product, download for free eval - read the deal at the WWW - You can make all these and more security settings easily using this network management tool.

Network Magic will identify and track "intruders", if any and will allow you to deal with them swiftly.

I use the paid version and love it.

I hpe I have addressed your question adequately.

thank you

2Wire Home Portal 1100 for AT&T DSL connection problem

HI! read your posting regarding the situation that your experiencing.. If before you dont have any problem regrding your connection with out the cisco network magic. I suggest that before you install the cisco network magic. you should get the full version not the trial version, there is a limitation of setting up the trial version.. Cisco network magic is a plug and play and easy to setup if you get the full version. I dont see any problem regarding your connection with the 2wire and the linksys router, becoz you mention earlier that hime network is working and you can connect to the network and the internet..

make sure that the linksys VOIP(secure) router is broadcasting it's SSID or signal, otherwise it will not reflect even if you refresh the wireless network. If the router is broadcasting SSID but the lenovo laptop is not detecting it, try to re-install the wireless software for the laptop using the software from, just click Support then Downloads and drivers.
