Question about HP Pavilion dv9000z Notebook

1 Answer

I own an HP pavilion dv9000 laptop. I was gaming (playing wow) when all of a sudden everything locked up. I did a hard boot to see if this would solve the problem. When it started back up, the screen was split horizontally into 1/4ths with text barely legible. Does this mean my laptop has crashed? HELP!

Most likely it is not the laptop, but the video card. In either case it will need repair. I have used Laptopguy.com successfully in the past. for $79 they will do complete diagnostic and if you repair, it comes off the bill.

Hp pavilion dv9000 takes a long time to get past the bios screen. It won't boot of dvd either??

Check BIOS boot options and assign local hard drive as first for faster boot. This is also where you set CD\DVD as first to boot from disc. Look for F Key press on start up. It will be shown on screen. These can vary.

Many HP machines also have a boot menu option during boot. Again an F key and may vary.

Wouldn't think so.
Ensure your BIOS is looking for the correct bootable disc and ensure it is the correct boot sector. UEFI installed maybe.

How long is the battery on a HP Pavilion dv9000 supposed to last?

Laptop batteries will usually last from 1.5 to 5 hours, depending upon the demand, the battery and the use. Sound burns up a lot of juice as does the DVD player so if you're watching movies or playing games an hour is about right. You can purchase a better HP PAVILION DV9000 Battery with 12 cell , it will work longger.

HP Pavilion dv9000 screen lock jamming on the hinge. Is there a key for the nominal padock on the hinge?

I just started getting this problem myself. I'll let you know if I find a solution. For the time being, I'm pinching the joint with my fingers as hard as I can when I open or close it.

HP DV9000 won't boot up past the HP splash screen, can't enter bios or access boot menu. It just keeps starting over, freezing, then starting over again.

Hi,
I think your hard drive has failed. It keeps searching for the boot sector. The boot sector is broken so the hard drive keep starting over to search for it.
