Just wondering if anything has been done about this class-action lawsuit. It shows this post as being 2 years old but if it is in process I would definitely consider joining it. My set lasted just over a year and I have had nothing but trouble ever since. Most of the same problems listed here. Blown capacitors, not able to get power, can't hook into home theater system, etc. Please let me know if there is a way to do something. This TV is a piece of s___t and should have been recalled a long time ago.

Problem lies with bad capacitors or the power supply. Samsung had a program brought about by a class action lawsuit to make repairs free of charge. Unfortunately the program has expired. The issue is well documented,I would advise you to find a local repair service if you are interested in saving the set.
Check with Samsung, that unit should be covered under the class action lawsuit settlement regarding bad power supplies that were install in many Samsung TVs. You can get additional information and contact numbers here

This set is well known (also the 60V500 which is the same set but larger).
Optical light engine gets burnt from heat from the lamp used--Hitachi will tell you they "know nothing about this" but the lawsuits are moving forward.
At one point they were selling the engines for 1100 exchange, then started rebuilding them and when so many were failing dropped the price to about 225 exchange----last I heard the engine is over 600 not counting major labor to replace--the new engines are not supposed "to have this problem" and I have over the last few years replaced about 20 of them---most under extended warranty from people who were sharp enough to get a extended warranty.
I am sorry to give you bad news but it can be nothing other than the engine.

Philips TVs **** - whoever said "Just buy a new power board fix ur tv" obviously works for Philips - again, Philips has horrible products that break and no customer service. Everyone that has ever purchased a Philips TV complained about it online. I wish I knew before I bought the piece of broken **** sitting in my living room.
i have repeated this info on every forum i have found whith the applicable problem, hopefully if enough people join in and spread the word we can do something about this, i for one am sick of getting taken by big companys, keep spreading the word as will i thanks for getting back to me
i talked to them today, apparantly they are only takeing cases with problems in the first year of ownership, but being a ligitiamate suit, it might help push hitachi to help us out, i am going to try to call back and use this info as leverage to get a new light engine. if i have any success ill let you know
