HOW TO FINALIZE A DISC - Panasonic Palmcorder VDR-M50 DVD Camcorder

I certainly have the same problem, and yes I have done all of the recommended stuff. The problem seems to be when you use a Panasonic DVD Ram 2.8 GB disk. The option to finalize does not come up on the screen. If you look at the manual you will see from the process route (looks like a family tree diagram) that when using one of these disks the finalize option is not there. So if any of you experts out there can help you will be helping thousands of people like me. I am about to throw the darn thingin the trash and buy a canon cam. Please help
    Thanks a million Muffy

    Sorry dear Sir.
Of course I was using the AC power when I finalized the disk or tried to. I promise you the option does not appear unless you use another lesser recording time disk. ie 30 mins. It also shows the absence of this option in the manual, when using DVD ram disk. A FU**ing Huge rip off. If I had the funds I would have taken these people to court for fraud.
It just is not there. I hold myself pretty computer savy and work a lot with video.I have since bought a Samsung camera and use a flash card system. !00 % improvement and works with all my video processing tools Power director, Adobe premier 7 etc etc. The other camera went under the hammer. I would not even have sold this on ebay. It is now in a hundred little bits glued to a board in my study. This is a warning to all my other tech equipment what will happen to them when they **** me off. PS I did reply to you before. I do not know what happened.
    Best regards,
    Muffy

Hi,

I replied you in premium post as well. here is with details...

Be sure to use the AC adapter to power the DVD Video Camera when
finalizing a DVD-R disc. Finalization cannot be executed using a battery pack. Now you will see finalize option in menu and can select it to finalize disc.

Good luck.

Are you using a RW disc. You can't finalize a RW disc. RW is that purpose is when you can record over and over. Try using a regular DVD to see that will finalize the disc.

Disk wont finalize samsung sc-dx103

Samsung support just told me that there has to be some space left on the disc to finalize it. In other words if you fill the disc with too much video, the disc won't be able to write the necassary info on the disc to finalize it. Support told me you needed 10MB to finalize. He also told me to leave 7- 10 minutes of free space which is ridiculous because the disc only records 20 minutes. I have complained to Samsung about this ommission from the manual and that the camcorder should know to leave enough space to finalize the disc.>

Finalize the disc

depends what type of disc-rw's won't highlight sometimes because they don't always need to be finalized to play-insert the disc if r in another brand and see if you can finalize-go to bb or circuit and ask them if you can stick it in display and see if it comes up-if never proably was done already-also try different dvd players

How long does it take to finalize? Can I finalize on other recorders?

The finalizing time depends on the remaining time on the DVD-R disc; Approximately 8 minutes to finalize with 20 minutes recording time on disc Approximately 3 minutes to finalize with 10 minutes recording time on disc Approximately 2 minutes to finalize with no recording time on disc. DVD-R discs recorded on the DVD-Camcorder cannot be finalized on other DVD-R Recorders or PCs.
