Cannot get disc out of camcorder....will not open.

Best Buy and Wolf Camera said camera is not turning on. Can get a screen to view but camera will not record as well. All batteries good as well as plug in. Both say it would cost as much to repair as to replace.

    This is a DZhs303A/DZ HS300A

If Camcorder internal memory is dead and disc is full of pics how can I get it out to save the pics. Door will not open at all. Would like to at least save the footage. Seems like a very short time to own a camera before it fails.

Is the camera worth servicing? and if so, where should I send for repair? I am in Houston, TX
    Thanks for the assistance.

The camera seems to come on as the lens screen comes on and simply says DVD Access...no error messages. You can use the zoom feature. The access/pc light comes on...that's about it.

If the DVD video camera/recorder does not operate normally, perform “System Reset”: The DVD video

camera/recorder may recover to normal. “System Reset” will reset all settings to factory defaults. The date

and time will also be reset: Set the date and time again before using the DVD video camera/recorder.

    1
Set the power switch to “OFF” to turn the

    DVD video camera/reorder off.

Detach the battery or AC adapter/charger.

    2
Use a fine tipped pen to hold down the reset

    button for several seconds.

    All settings will be reset.

They are right, such cameras has one main board and all parts are mounted on it. In any case or problem of electronic failure, main board will be replaced and cost would be approx new camera price.

Before opening camera to take out disc, check there is possibility of blown fuse on main board. Qualified Tech can look into camera for blown fuse and camera might function again.

To get video / movie files and pictures on disc you need to finalize disc on this camera.

Problem is with the ribbon cable interconnect between camera and screen. Available as spare, but very tricky to replace. Probably a camera shop is your best bet.

You can get them at Best buy. You must buy the same disc as it is spelled out on the side of the camera. Buy, DVD-RAM/R. There are DVD+ and DVD-, you must be sure to buy just like it's printed on the camera (just under the viewfinder).

My Hitachi VM H710A plays just fine, and the picture looks fine. But when it playsback footage or records footage, five to ten seconds later, it stops abruptly, and flashes the word "TAPE". First thing I must add, is that I was using a prerecorded videotape, and was testing it from the beginning of the cassette and the middle of the cassette. I thought maybe the heads were dirty, and so I cleaned them using a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol. I cleaned the head drum with a piece of paper soaked with rubbing alcohol so that I wouldn't get any fibres in the heads. I waited for it to dry and then I put a cleaning cassette inside. To which, it still stopped abruptly five to ten seconds in during playback. I then decided to look at the manual of the camcorder and see the symptom. It says that due to temperature changes that it might cause this symptom. I placed it in a cool room and left it there all day and checked on it, and the camcorder is still doing the same thing as before hand. Then another cause said that it might sense some moisture. I made sure that the camcorder was dry externally and internally, and yet still, same problem. Thats when I decided to take it apart and look inside to see if there was anything odd inside the camcorder causing it to function the way it does. The belt seemed to be working fine, and there was no missing parts. The tracking poles and path alignment was fine, and not loose. Everything simply seemed just fine. So I am unsure as to why my camcorder is operating like this.
