Re: FINALIZING DVD-R DISC
On the left side of the camera when it is facing you like you are about to film, there is a button on the side on top called disc Navagation. Press this one first, then go to Disc Finalization, follow the instructions on the screen and be patient some discs go fast at the beginning and then slows down toward the end as it is writing disc information so that all DVD players can recognize it.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Finalising a disc enables the disc to be played on any other compatible machine. By doing this it changes the disc format so that you can no longer record to it turning it into a Play Only disc. On your Panasonic DVD Recorder you can record to many (if not all depending on the model) of the following DVD Disc formats to the limit of their capacity over multiple occasions. The disc in question can be played back and recorded to on the DVD Recorder during this time but until it is finalised it will not work on any other machine. DVD Formats: DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, DVD+R, DVD+RW. How do I Finalise my disc?
When you have finished the initial recording stop the disc and press the ~FUNCTIONS~button.
Using the ~UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT arrows~ on the keypad select "To Others" and press~ENTER~.
Using the ~UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT arrows~ on the keypad Scroll down to "DISC MANAGEMENT" and press ~ENTER~.
When the disc management screen opens you need to use the ~UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT arrows~ on the keypad to scroll down to "FINALIZE" and press ~ENTER~.
Using the ~UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT arrows~ on the keypad select "YES" and press~ENTER~.
Using the ~UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT arrows~ on the keypad select "START" to begin finalizing the disc, please note by pressing start here you will no longer be able to record or edit the disc being finalized.
Finalizing may take up to 15 minutes. Do not disconnect the mains power in this time. A message appears when finalizing is finished, press the enter button when this appears. It will now play on other compatible machines.
Power on the camcorder. Push the disk navigation button, then the menu button. Scroll down until you find the option to finalize disk. Follow the instructions on screen. You will need to have it hooked up to the ac adapter inorder for it to work. Good Luck!
I replied you in premium post as well. here is with details...
Be sure to use the AC adapter to power the DVD Video Camera when finalizing a DVD-R disc. Finalization cannot be executed using a battery pack. Now you will see finalize option in menu and can select it to finalize disc.
to finalize the disk for enabling discs to be played on other devices.
Connect this unit to the AC adaptor. Finalization cannot be executed using a battery.
Rotate the mode dial to select the arrow.
Press the MENU button, then select SETUP, FINALIZE, YES and press the joystick. Select whether or not to create a top menu, then press the joystick. When the confirmation message appears, select YES then press the joystick.
hope this helps you. julie
I had the same problem for about an hour. I finally got it, though not sure how. I think it had something to do with the green button on the on/off switch. I pressed it down while at the same time pushing the on/off button down to "mode". When I went back to finalize it yet again, I got the option to select "Yes". Hooray!
Hi!! My husband just sat down and finally figured this out,
You have to use disc navigation, then wait for the thumbnails to show up and then push menu and scroll down three times to the disc, and then choose finallize and then tell it yes. You do have to have it plugged into the a/c adapter tho in order to do this for some reason.
