The first thing is that you might have accidentally activated the mute function and as a result, it cannot record the sound of the environment since the mic has been de-activated. The second and most likely thing is that your mic is faulty and can also not record the sound in your environment. You can try to restore the default settings and see if there is any change as the mic settings may have been altered but if it doesn't then you have to send it to an expert technician to help you change the mic. DSC-S930 does record sound and you can hear video clip sound by playback of Media Player in Computer.
