When you insert a disk, the light should come on to indicate drive activity. If it doesn't, you probably have a bad drive. If it does, but nothing happens, then it is probably just a setting if you can hear sounds from other sources. What operating system are you using?

CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD/CD-RW Combo, DVD Dual, or DVD Supermulti (varies by model) Up to 400GB Hard Disk Drive SATA (varies by model) 9 in 1 Card Reader (selected models)
Insert the original "System Restore" CD/DVD into the CD/DVD drive.
Restart the computer.
Press a key to "change boot order".
Choose to boot from the CD/DVD drive.
Does your computer start to read the disk, and start to load something?
If so, then there's _nothing_ wrong with your computer that _WOULD_ be corrected by doing a "reset" of the BIOS. Put differently, try a "reset" of the BIOS *ONLY* as the _LAST_ thing that you try.
It's more likely that your 'C:' drive has a problem that prevents Windows from loading.
Take your computer to a qualified technician, for more trouble-shooting.
There are numerous issues that could cause this but if absolutely nothing happens, no lights, no fans, nothing then check the power supply. Use a simple voltage tester to see if you have any voltage on the connectors going to the hard drive and cd/dvd drives. If not this is a pretty easy and relatively inexpensive fix. Most CD/DVD drives have a tiny hole just below the tray. Straighten a paper clip in gently insert it into this hole and push it in. The tray will slide out slightly, just grab the tray and pull it out to the open position.
Go to My Computer and right clicked on the DVD Rom drive and clicked eject. If any error appears let me know. Also try to insert a straightened paper clip into the designated hole on the CD/DVD drive casing to manually force an eject. If it is not worked replace the cables(master slave).
r u sure bluetooth device is installed in acer aspire 4720z?eventhough u have software bluetooth installed in your pc but i dont think it has its hardware....this is happen to my friend...if,it is already installed,u can find the driver from acer's website or in your cd attach together with your pc
First question: What are the circumstances that led to this issue? Has the Acer Aspire ever read any disks in its cd drive? What happened before this occurred? What are the sounds/beeps you hear when the cd is inserted into the disk drive?
If you can go into the device manager (click on My Computer--Properties----Device Manager---go to the cd/dvdrom drive. What do you see? ex. if there is a red x, that mea your laptop is not recognizing the device...) Let me know when you have examined all the questions above, so I can help you solve this issue.
Aspire one does not have a CD/DVDROM however you can use another computer to be able to setup your router. You can probably ask a friend to use his/her laptop that has a CD/DVD ROM. After setting up the router, you can connect your Acer Aspire by letting it detect the wireless signal and connecting to your router wirelessly.
**You can also try to insert the installer disc on another PC and copy all the contents of the CD/DVD installer of the Netgear into a USB flash Drive. Plug the USB flash Drive into your Acer then run the setup file inside and follow the instructions.
