Toshiba satellite 2435-s255 keyboard & touch pad not working, reconnected keyboard cable. reinstalled drives. Still not working. what else to check?

Laptops are a bit trickier to work with. If the keyboard *and* touchpad aren't working, you may have to contact Toshiba for assistance, assuming the product is in warranty.

You may also want to see if an external (USB) keyboard and mouse work.

Janice, This is info from Tomsguide.com
1- Turn off computer, disconnect the power cord, remove the battery.
2- Press the Power On button for 10 seconds
3- Replace battery and/or connect power cord.
4- Turn On computer + immediately press F2 key repeatedly
5- Press F9 then press Enter
6- Press F10 then press Enter
May have virus or corrupt driver, run your anti virus and try reloading divers for mouse and touch pad, you may have to use system restore to an earlier date when thins were working OK.

Touchpad click buttons sticking

Did you waste some sticky soda on the touchpad. Before you try taking the laptop apart just shut the laptop off and repeatedly hit the buttons to try and work them loose from sticking.

If you want to take the touch pad off, you will have to remove the whole palmrest. Get some cups and label them so you will know where the screws you removed go. Also a digital camera might help you. You will start by turning the power off, removing the power cord and battery. The remove the screws from the bottom of the laptop. Remove the memory, the hard drive, the dvd drive. Look inside each one of them and there might be screws to remove especially in the battery compartment. Make sure you look for screws that might have the icon of a keyboard next to it. They secure the keyboard. Then open the lid and remove the strip that is above the keyboard. Be careful because there might be a cable attached to the strip. One the strip above the keyboard is removed, you can remove the keyboard screws and gently lift the keyboard out because there is definitely a cable under it that you will have to remove from the board where it plugs in. Next you will have to remove the screw from the lcd hinge and lift the lcd off. You should be able to just disconnect the lcd cable and have enough room to sit the lcd right behind the base without taking the wifi antennas off. If not you will need to remove the wifi card and antenna from the bottom of the laptop. Next you can pry the palmrest off, but be careful and remove any cables that are plugged in before you remove it. There might also be some screws that hold the palmrest to the motherboard so check for them.

I had to open the L355d-s7815 Toshiba lap top to replace a broken power connector. The power problem is fixed, however, the touch pad and mouse buttons no longer function and are not recognized by the...

That Floppy Strip connects the touch pad to the motherboard.
Remove the top assembly againg and look specifically at the base of the touch pad, there is a connector that takes the cable. The other end connctes to the motherboard.
If you put it in the wrong way up, it will not damage, just won't work.
Have fun!!

I have a Toshiba 2435-s255 laptop. I want to add memory. It has (2) 256 PC2100 SODIMM sticks. If I put in (2) 512K PC2700 sticks, will I gain any benifits for the faster speed?

You can put (2) 1 GB sticks in that computer and you would see very, very fast results and the machine will thank you for the upgrade because it will not have to work as hard. Just remember though that you still have the same processor as you did before so if that is the bottleneck in the system, then it will run as fast as the processor allows it. The extra RAM will free up 90% of bottleneck issues.

Toshiba touch pad not working to tap of finger

First got to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Mouse(or there may be a separate Touch Pad setup) and check were options for touchpad Settings Options are tabbed or listed.

All touchpads allow on/off settings for Tap or NoTap. Also, check Sensitivity Settings. If very low, then Tap would have to be very hard to be recognized.

Next, reboot your computer.

yes, Toshiba models have a function key combination that will disable the built in touch pad, it is next to the function button to enable the external display output.
