Question about Kenmore Elite 45986 Front Load Washer
Washer goes through wash cycle but when it gets to the spin cycle, it stops and displays code F02. I have drained water out. I had clothes in it and door was locked. I got door open, clothes out, tried it again but when it got to drain cycle, same code. i am going to open drain valve and look for any other debris and try again, but not sure if it will work. i have an appointment with sear's but not until jan 5th.
Take bottom panel off ,,it has a screw out filter,,this filter fits directly in your pump..its clogged,,your pump is the fist part you see when you open bottom panel

Hello & Welcome to FixYa
F02 is a drain error in your Kenmore washer, if the unit is unable to drain then after 4 minutes it will display suds and then F02. The first thing that should be done is cleaning the drain hose and the drain pump filter, you can take out three torx screws from the bottom front panel and then clean the area completely, lift up the cap to clean the filter. If the error returns then check the drain pump if it is not working then replacing the pump is recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

he F02 message is a long drain error and it may mean the pump is clogged or bad. You don't provide a lot of detail about if the water is draining out or not but the first thing to check for this error is the drain pump.
The image below shows how to access the pump and remove the filter. This may be your only problem. With the access panel removed you can also make sure the pump is running. Remember to unplug the washer before removing the access panel.
Check the pump for the F02 and make sure you're using HE detergent and there's not excessive suds.
