Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

2 Answers

Kodak ESP3 will not print over half of the time.

When I try printing a page or even coping something the printer will not print. It show to get in touch with Kodak, but I can ot find any numbers or e-mail for the Kodak Company. I just put in new ink and the ESP3 will not print in black, that is when if do print. I will never but another Kodak product again. Nor will my 7 children, 35 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren, because they are sick of me calling them to see what is wrong with my printer they tell me to carry it back to the store, but you know how the stores are when you return something. I just want to be able to print without having to call someone to check this printer everytime i try to print.
Thank you for your response.

P.S. The printer is not even a year old. What can I do I can not afford another printer.

I also bought the Kodac ESP3 in September and it does the same as the person above posted. It jams, it will not print, and it causes me a lot of headaches and time just to try to get it to print.
I paid $129.99 for this piece of junk and I do not want it and want my
money back. I got it at Best buy.
It has never printed good. It will print pages so light you cannot read them, I always have to remove the black ink cartridge and reinstall it before it will print at all.
The last time I got it to actually print a short page the same thing happened. I removed the cartridge reinstalled it and I watched the printer cartridge drop, right before my eyes, about 1/3 after printing 1/2 page of Text.

This thing actually uses more ink than any other printer I have ever had and I have had 4 of them. I still have my Hp printer that I've had for 4 years and there is no compaison.
I have replaced the Kodac Printer cartridges 3 times in 3 months and I do not print a lot. I paid $50.00 every 6 months for the HP cartridges and so far for 3 months I have paid $75.00 for the Kodac printer ESP3 Cartdridges.

So for 12 months the Kodac cartdriges will cost me $300.00 a year where the HP cartdriges cost me $100.00 a year.

It is against the law to sell something under fales pretenses isn't it.
When you purchas something it is suppose to do what it is sold to do.

How do I get my money back?

I replace cartridges all the time. Now even when I replace them the thing will not print. My printer was a gift and I have had it just over a year. I a,m totally disappointed in Kodak. I can not afford a new printed. They advertise how much cheqaper the ink is but when you hardly use it and it runs out so quickly how is that cheaper. Now it won't even print even after I've cleaned the printheads and claibated. It does print out the calibration paper but doing it twice the ink levels dropped one quarter. It will not print a regular paper. I am disgusted

I'm having the same problem....out of the blue the black ink started printing real light...then the colors are not as vibrant as they once were...such a disappointment.

Same problem with a brand new printer from kodak & I haven't even printed 20 pages of text. Kodak has been really misrepresenting this printer as saving money on ink.
Buy an HP printer when you can. I'm unplugging this piece of kodak garbage & hooking up my 7 year old HP multi-
function printer. The cartridges are expensive, but they work & print many pages & photos. Also they print until the colors are gone & don't use error messages to lock the purchaser out from using all the ink in the cartridges as the kodak printer does. This kodak printer is designed to trick the purchaser. If kodak hopes to keep their printer sales up, they need to be honest and post something on their help info page that will allow the user to disconnect the interface that causes the low ink message & blocks all printing functions.
I'm a college prof & will definitely mention my problems with this printer when I talk with my art students about their printing needs for art classes & other documents in other classes.

Kodak...get with it. You've stuck a bunch of customers with a truly faulty printer & you refuse to back up your promises/advertisements about how long the cartridges last & how much money users will save.

Never, but never, buy a kodak printer...that's my advice. Fortunately, I have 5 other printers & I'll be able to go back to my HP. I'll also be buying another HP inkjet all in one printer.

    ********** bigtime by advertising lies!

All you guys i know you are all frustrated but m just trying to be helpful to you all............First thing there are lot of compatible and look alike and refilled ink cartridges available for the kodak printers which actually screws the printer........i have the whole list of numbers on the ink cartridges which are genuine and i can give it to you all if you want........to fix your issue just try and do the print head cleaning from the home center software on computer to which this printer is connected......if still the same issue then just call kodak tech support as its a print head issue.........

I have a Kodak esp3 printer. I replaced the color

I have had exactly the same problem. I can't carry enough ink to it. Plus even more perplexing is the fact that it won't print b & w when the colour runs out and visa versa. I havent printed any colour stuff at all since replacing the colour cartridge last month and yet again it has run out. Advice / help siteuseless. If they spent as much effort with helping customers as they do with their useless junkmail then the servic would be better. Best advice steer clear of kodak printers !!!

Printer quit printing all the sudden. I changed both cartridges with new ones. Still will not print. All I get is blank documents.

Try to reseat the printhead of the printer if using the ESP3 just press at the same time copy and cancel botton to clean the pritnhead.

Now if yur done try to print again. Now if you printer when printing its act like printing but i has a blank page it means you need to replace the printhead., But when you print and then the paper just ecxit in your printer fast and smooth you need to replace the printer, Thats how you can determined which you need to replace how the paper exit to printer.

Please call kodak 1 800 421 6699 ext 05 for printhead replacement or printer replacement

Esp3 printer, has new cartriges, printing very fient

Have you tried the maintenance tool - if you open the kodak printer status monitor in your taskbar (next to the clock); at the top right hand side you will see an icon showing crossed hammer and spanner, click on this and run the tools from top down (dont need to do the test page).
If that doesnt work you could try this:-
my new esp3 printer (replaced due to not printing black) came with a suppliment document for action if no black or faint print appears!!:
verify paper is loaded into paper tray then press and hold the Cancel and Copy/Resume buttons simultaneously until the On/Off light flashes -apparently this fixes the no black/faint issue.
hope this helps

Replaced printhead and ink cartiages on a Kodak ESP.3

I had my esp3 stop printing black also. I bought new cartridges even tho' I knew the ones in the printer were at least half full. Still not printing black. I finally called Kodak support and got a tech who was the first tech from India who could speak English well. He was very helpfull but in the end he told me he would send me the printer head because that was the problem. My printer was not used for about a month and the head dried up. The tech said that printer must be used about twice a week and the best way was to print the test by using the 'Scan' and 'Copy' at the same time. There was no sense telling the tech this is a huge flaw in the printer as he must have been hearing this for a long time. After I received the new printer head it prints fine. This is an absolutely huge flaw in this printer. If they can't make a different style of head for this printer these will stop being used................. So if you have the ESP3 (I don't know about the other models) and don't use it often the head will dry up and you can't clean it (according to the tech I talked to). Kodak should send these free for the life of the machine in my opinion.
