Power Supply part problem with a SD-P5795W

I have a SD-P5797W projection TV.  It was not working properly.  When it is turned on, it turns itself off.  The reld light goes orange for a sec then turns back to red.  I had a repairman out and he said that it was the "power supply?". He was going to try find the part thru Pioneer.  He never called back nor would he give me the part he was trying to find so I could find one myself.  He said that the rest of the tv is "in perfect condition".  I do not want to buy another one if I can get this one fixed.  Where can I find the part number to obtain and/or have someone find and fix it for me.  Thank you in advance for any help you can give.   There is a date of 3/1998 inside. I wouldn't trust anything this repairman said reason well for one thing how could he (or anyone) tell everything else is "in perfect condition" when he couldn't "see" anything to tell what it looked like. He might be right about the power supply being bad But it could also be the high voltage "power supply" could have a short and that would cause the symptions you describe
But if you want to try the power supply your self you can call Pioneer and give them the model number and they should be able to get the information you need.

Pioneer SD-P6091 Projection TV - TV turns off by itself

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

TV turns on and off and changes channels on its own. tv pioneer 45 in projection when you turn the tv on it will turn off

its the problem in the power supply board of your tv.
check for the fuse on the power supply board.
for any blown capacitors or ics.on the powersupply board. also check for any loose soldering joints on the main board. calling a tech is much advisable.if do not have proper technical knowledge.

it will not be too costly to get it repaired.
it is worth getting it repaired.as this is a common fault faced by many customers.

thanks.

Need help

A power supply is a very complex circuit that changes the voltage that comes from an outlet to voltages the tv can use and is a circuit that need to be repaired because in Tv's is only a section of a circuit board and the rest of the board has other functions. Computers use a single module that you can replace as a whole but not tv's.Be safe an call a qualified technician because there is danger involved.Get an estimate.

Your set will one day soon not come on at all. theres several capacitors on the PIP board if your set has PIP or the capacitors in the power supply. A good tech should know where to check as this set some say is hard to work on but i quess its like anything you work on for a bit gets easyer. Call an authorized repair center for pioneer. Good Luck
