Router Security I wish to put a password on my wireless router so that neighbours can not use my Internet service. I changed the Admin password in the Advanced Setup. However, I note that other devices in my home can still hook up to our wireless service. i.e. Wii, Ipod and daughters laptop. How do I require all users to have a password or that I authorize links.? thanks

Did you enable encryption? like WEP or WPA?
Maybe try that.. Then you'll have to put the username and password into the laptop, wii and ipod every time they want to connect to your router..

Here is a site with the manual. see pages 14-15

Once you set it and someone wants/needs to get on your network, you will have to provide them the encryption key.
Click on this link or copy and paste the complete link into your browser.

To be more specific, type 192.168.0.1 into your internet url box, and put in your password, then go to wireless settings, then security, then enable either 128-bit wep or wpa encryption and press 'Apply' or similar.
Hope this helps

How to use the wireless key

Hi,

Wireless keys are like your secret password. Provided you have a wireless router and wireless devices to access internet - You might want to secure the wireless signals emitted by the router to ensure that your neighbour is not using free internet :-). So all you do is access the router's setup page and under wireless tab enable the wireless security feature.

Wireles security generally of two types
- WEP
- WPA

select the one suits best to your network and save the changes. once you are done with the router - you will now search for wireless network from your computer/s and select the network. The router will now ask you to type the password (the one you eariler entered on the router). Enter the correct password and you will be connected. Now your neighbours can see your network but cannot access it unless you share your password with them.

I am setting up a Linksys Wireless G Router and can't find how to set up a password

You can get to the router settings menu by entering 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1. in internet explorer. It should ask for a password and default is usually "admin". Once you are in the settings for the router you can configure the security settings for WEP. When you activate it you will create a password that all computers on the wireless network will use to connect to the router.
