Question about ViewSonic VA520 15" Flat Panel LCD Monitor
I have a compaq presario that a new hard drive was installed in yesterday. I plug everything in, however, the View Sonic VA520 shows the Windows start barely on the screen which can hardly see the icons. When I press the Power button on the screen, The icons flash bright in color for 1/2 second then beyond faded again.
I have a deadline I'm working on and would appreciate all the help I can get.

SOURCE: LCD Monitor has no video
Sounds your monitor has either blown a backlight or the inverter board is bad. Either way they can both be replaced, but tracking down the parts will be a bit difficult. But your LCD Monitor is in trouble! Sorry!

Hi; I had the same problem. I know that sometimes devices require you to perform some type of '10-30 second' "hold" of one or some of its buttons in order to 'reset' the device, so to speak. So, having said that, try this:
1) Turn your monitor off (no green light) but leave it plugged in.
2) Leave it off for about 10 seconds.
3) Hold the button on your monitor (the one to the immediate LEFT of your monitor's POWER button).
4) While holding the button, now press and HOLD your POWER button.
5) Wait for your image to appear and STAY onscreen for about 5 seconds, then release both buttons.
6) Your monitor should retain its onscreen image.
Hope this helps! Good Day to all!

probably your power supply. Is it a cord direct from plug in for is there a box between where you plug it in and then a small round end that goes into the monitor. This would be the good news. If it plugs in direct then that means the power sopply is in the monitor itself which means more expensive to fix

there are possible reasons why your monitor shows nothing on your screen...
First, you need to check if the power cable of your monitor is well connected to a wall socket or AVR (and that you are sure there is supply output current on the AVR or in the wall outlet)
IF found that power cable is fix and secure... my suggestion is you bring the monitor to a credible technician...Because the possible reason why only black is seen on your screen, is because the backlight inverter could be busted already.. the backlight inverter which is located on the upper and lower back edge of the monitor is the light source responsible for giving image display of your lcd monitor.. Another reason could be is a deffective high voltage ballast transformer which is responsible for generating high votlage supply for the backlight....
It is too risky for you to do the repair by yourself without proper knowledge and right tools to do this.. So don't waste time consult a technician and or possible avail of the warranty if there is any...
Hope it is clear now to you..
Much appreciated if you rate this help.. thanks..
