You didn't mention if you had a laptop or a desktop. But on a laptop there is a small fan on the power supply that cools the CPU and all inside. The laptop must always be used on a flat surface like a table to ensure the air is circulating properly. Putting it on your lap or on your bed will cause it to heat more than usual. Yes they do get hot, the tempature is monitored by your BIOS and will automatically shut down if it gets too hot, this is to save the CPU from being damaged. As long as things are working properly then you are ok.

The fan may have failed, you will have to replace the fan or cooler. Check to see if there are any loose wires.

Just got the lap top back today and now i have blisters agian. I realy am not looking foward to hireing a attorney, the bbb,and any one else that will listen. If i end up with scars on my legs i will who is...

i do not work with asus but i have dealt with them numerous times and they have the best customer support i have ever dealt with. and they speak english. i would send the laptop back and have them look at it again. laptops do get very hot, they generate a lot of heat. i would suggest a laptop tray so you dont have to put it on your lap. whenever a laptop is not properly ventilated it can cause a lot of problems. including on getting extremely hot. i dont suggest you put any laptop on your bare skin.

I have a new NB205 mini toshiba lap top and i am getting a cooling system error return for service. But if i shut it off and pull the battery sometimes it works for a while and the fan comes on.

I think the bearings in your fan are failing. When that happens there is a lot of resistance to turning to overcome because the bearings are dirty and dragging. You might be able to jolt it into running off and on but it won't run at full speed and it probably won't cool your system adequately. You just need to get the fan changed. It could damage your system running it without a fan. CPU's develope a lot of heat in a short amount of time.

Hi As you have stated that you have no power this means that the CPU is overheating and is unable to complete the function of opening the operating system if you can feel the large fan that circulates air throughout the laptop you can generally say that the power is reaching the mother board but the CPU is getting to hot to function therefore i would sagest that you see about getting a heat seek fan for your laptop if you take it to a reputable computer store they may replace it for you and double check it for you Hope this solves your problem Paddy
