It stopped working

It was purchased in may 2011, have never had any issues. It is connected to a power surge protector. It just won't turn on. The tower system is working fine, we plugged that into an older monitor. We also tested the problem monitor on another computer, it is just has not power.

Check the power supply board which failed. look for blown fuse and replace any bulged capacitor.

Hi Gary Brooks, I would be happy to do all I can to help you with your C6280. I understand it will not turn on, and the adapter light is illuminate until you connect the cable to the printer. Please review the following document to ensure you have completed all of the necessary troubleshooting;

Also, do you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector
In this document you will see, ISSUE: Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector

I recently purchased a Hitachi bread maker. We had a power surge and it stopped working. Is there a circuit breaker on this model?

Unlikely. This will need repair or replacement.
To avoid future issues , install a whole house surge protector on the main panel and use local surge protectors on expensive units.
Unplug the things not regularly used.

I have a 55" Panasonic flat screen that won't turn

Try disconnecting all of your HDMI cables and plugging the power cord of the TV into another wall outlet. If this resolves the issue, you may have had a small power surge from either your wall outlet or one of your source devices. It is recommended to connect your TV to a surge protector if you haven't done so already.

HP printer won't print

Hi Kathy,

What is the printer model ? Try the step below.

While the printer has power, Disconnect the power cable from back of the printer. Wait for 10 seconds and reconnect. This should fix the issue.

If this does not, try changing the wall socket. If you have connected it to Surge protector, Try connecting to Wall outlet directly.

Hope this will fix the issue.

Regards,
Sean

Lookbook will not power on

A computer that won't start can be both alarming and infuriating, especially if you're on a deadline or you haven't been backing up all your data (like we all tend to do). Don't panic, though-this problem often has a simple solution.

1.If your desktop computer does nothing at all when you try to start it, first check that the power cable is securely plugged in at the back of the computer as well as into a working power outlet. It's amazing how often this is the case.
2.If you're starting from a button on the keyboard, make sure the keyboard is connected to the computer.
3.If the computer is plugged into a surge protector, see if the surge protector has a reset switch that you can push. (If it doesn't have a reset switch and the problem is with the surge protector, it will need to be replaced.) Try plugging a lamp or other device into one of the surge protector's outlets to make sure it's working.
4.If you can hear the computer's fan or hard-disk drive, or if you can see indicator lights on the main unit but the monitor stays dark, make sure that the monitor is connected to a working power source, that it's turned on and that it's securely connected to the computer via the video cable.
5.If the monitor and computer have power but the computer displays a "Non-system disk or disk error" message, check to make sure you didn't leave a disk in the A: drive. If you did, eject it and restart the computer.
6.If the operating system still won't start even though the computer and monitor have power, try restarting with a Windows CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive or, if you've got a Macintosh, with a Mac OS disc in the CD-ROM drive. (You can start a Mac from the CDROM drive by holding down the C key while starting up.)
7.If the operating system then starts, your problem is probably with the startup hard drive or with the operating system installed on it. If you can't fix the drive, you'll have to replace it. (See also How to Fix Bad Sectors on a Hard Disk and How to Recover Lost Files.)

Lightning storm & power went out for about two seconds. PC plugged into surge protector but would not go back on. Found that surge protector blew and was no good. Got another and plugged all back in...

Your reasoning about the switch mode power supply being damaged is probably right.
Bear in mind that this power supply may not be the only thing that may be damaged in your computer.
You won't know for sure until you borrow a power supply and install it into your computer to see if it will work again.

Have an insignia tv that won't power on...was off..made popping noise...won't power on. checked power in both the surge protector it was in & wall. all other items plugged into surge protector work....

Try connecting the TV directly to a different wall outlet and check. If the issue persists, try power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue persists, then the TV requires service.
