Hp Pavilion monitor keeps blinking.

My hp pavilion mx75 monitor keeps blinking. Every once in a
while I get a series of black lines. It looks as if the monitor is going to quit working soon. Is there someway this can be fixed, or will I need a new monitor? The blinking is enough to be annoying.

Depending on how old your system is it could be at least two things. First it could be your video card.to see what it is you will need to get your hands on a second monitor. Try to plug a different monitor into your computer. If it is an old crt monitor it is not even worth fixin it. Plus LCD's in my opinion are far superior.
My advice is to junk the old one and upgrade to an LCD if possible.

Your tube is going out. The good news is these monitors are so cheap you can find a new one on Craig's list that is in color and larger for not very much money at all. (Defiantly less than a repair bill would be to fix it.) What to do with the old bad monitor? There is a company that helps to bring computers to third world countries that will take it and fix it or throw it away. Either way you get a tax right off that will more than likely equal your cost in the newer used monitor.

Hi there
If you can hear a high pithched noise or a clicking sound to go with the blinking then the monitor is on its way out and you may as well replace it.
If its not making any noise at all, try re-installing the graphics drivers on the computer, it may just be a simple matter of bad drivers.

Good luck and Merry Christmas

You need to replace new monitor if your monitor is more than 2 years old . The circuit board is damaged replacing it costs more.

17-inch CRT?

Ask your friends -- one of them probably has a "surplus" 17-inch CRT that they will _love_ to give-away to you, to replace yours.

Or, look on CRAIGS LIST for a used 17" LCD screen, for $30 to $40.

Can you tell me where USB port is located in HP pavilion MX75

USB ports are located on the back and also on the front on newer desktop PCs. These are on the computer tower - not the monitor as your posting is categorized. They are rectangular slots with four copper contacts inside.

Pavilion MX75 monitor clicking.

What has happened is the automatic screen size & resolution detection circuitry is going/gone faulty. You usually hear this sound ONLY when ya change screen resolutions, ie: when say ya change from 800x600 to 1024x768 or the like. With 2nd monitors so inexpensive these days repair is often NOT warranted.. so perhaps it is time to upgrade to another. However if ya choose to have it repaired obtain a "Quote" and an explanation B4 ya proceed.
