  • You must have an updated antivirus to scan your pen drive. I recommend you to use full version of avg 8 or avast. It will surely delete those viruses on your system and so as in your pen drive.
  • Or you can format your drive with this steps:
    1. Go to start menu
    2. Click Run and type cmd
    ==A command prompt shows.==
    3. Type cd\
    4. Type format x:
    5. Press Enter key
    6. When done type exit

VIRUS OR TROJAN INFECTIONS:

Virus or trojans can run some process that keeps running in background. This not only harms the computer, but also prevents the pen drive from formatting as it shows that the drive is in use. Remove and re-insert thepen drive, don't double click on drive and cancel autorun operations if it starts automatically. Run a virus scan on pen drive, this will help fix the issue. Now format the pen drive.

CORRUPTED FLASH CHIPS ON PEN DRIVE:

If the pen drive is not detected at all, or shows a less capacity, then there are high chances that its a chip corruption. Flash chips are the actual hardware components that save the data. A physical or electrical or electromagnetic damage to these chips make the pen drive faulty. This can happen because of voltage fluctuations and faulty USB ports. In such case, get the flash drive replaced if its under warranty as it can not be fixed otherwise.

FAKE PEN DRIVES:

Sounds a bit un-believable but true. There are a lot of pen drives in the market which are of very cheap quality which are fake copies of some known brands. Beware of such pen-drives. Always purchase pen-drives or memory-cards from a reliable source with bill and warranty to avoid any mess later.

When i connect my pen drive to my pc then it gets connected but after that if i try to copy or delete or format the drive i cant because i get error as remove write protection mode and try again

HI there its a reason for virus infested system with pen drive. Your PC & pen drive both are infested by virus. That's why you are not able to deleted or copy or format that Drive. Its a trozonhouse or warm32 virus. I suggest you format the OS and install it again. After that connect the pen drive but remember do not open the pen drive. Straight way format the Pen drive first then open ok. Other wise your PC again virus infected by pen drive virus. Thanks.

12O/80 GB KINGSTON PEN DRIVE

You pen drive contains a virus within it you will find one autoexe file. If you wish to open it you can do so by doing it through single click from your explorers address bar click on the bar and scroll to the drive letter k or whatever it is on your pc when u click on it it will open and spread the virus on your pc also. I'll recomend that you first get updates for your antivirus or take the pen drive to such a pc which has updated antivirus and scan it. if you wish to format your pen on existing pc you can do by clicking start run typing cmd and enter type format and your drive letter.
