Question about HP PSC 2355 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

All of the lights are blinking & screen says "memory trashed"

All of the lights on the front panel of the 7210 are blinking and the screen says "Assert: Memory trashed? For several months the display will show garbage on it after it has sat for a while.  Restarting it fixes it for a few hours - although the carriage gets stuck half the time.  Today, for the first time I have recieved the "Assert! Memory Trashed?" error.  Since it is a question, I'll just answer no - that will fix it I'm sure.

I also have a PSC 2355 that I tried to reinstll on my lap top. The mesage on the LCD reads Assert! Memory Trashed? and the lights are frantically blinking. I tried turning the machine off to reset it, no luck.

HP Officejet 7210 All-In-One Inkjet. Arrived at

In absence of another solution, I finally switched the Officejet off. No idea if that "trashed" the memory or anything else, but it's working again - for now.

I am surprised that nobody, especially HP, has a real answer (let alone a solution) for this problem, when the same question about the same model has been asked since 2007 or before! I'll keep hoping, because the consensus seems to be that the "Assert! Memeory trashed?" WILL happen again.

My HP 7210 puts a line down the middle of the page, but there isn't anything on the glass. I think it is on the light, how can I check it?

I am assuming that you are talking about scaning or copying somethign when you mention glass. The line can be from memory or a driver, Try setting the scan quality down to see if it goes away.

My 5 yr. old stuck a screwdriver into one of the memory card slots....now a camera light is flashing and the display panel shows, "Memory Card Error"

If the power was on when he did that there's nothing that can be done other than buying a new hp officejet, If power was off you will still have to get a new officejet, because then pins to read the memory card will be beyond repair.
