That is your coolant projection fluid make sure you clean up any that may have went on chassis ect.....refill fluid in lense make sure it does not leak and try again, tube should be same as before, when chaning fluid in lenses always turn set on look into lenses if clear it is ok if dirty looking then change fluid.

I have a sonny rear proction tv its very foggy the piture

Three things you need to do:

1) Take the back cover off and clean the:
a) Mirror with glass cleaner
b) The dust that collected on top of the CRT lenses

2) With tv unplugged, use a flashlight and look down the lense of the blue, green CRTs. There is fluid in there. If the fluid is not clear, then it needs to be replaced and the tv re-aligned. Not recommended for anyone without experience.

Cloudy fluid is typically indicated by a foggy picture. THis is assuming you have a standard 3 CRT rear projection TV.

My headlights keep burning out, both bright and normal. They seem to be shorting out and it's getting expensive. Right after I replace one, the other one burns out! My lens covers are also no longer clear,...

If both lenses are foggy chances are your bulbs are acting like fuses and when wet/damp blowing, reseal with silicon,or replace lenses.(when lenses get foggy it is also a sign that the chrome has oxidised.)

I have a philips projection tv, there is a green hald circle at the bottom of the screen also the picture has double images and very yellow and red. I just bought this from someone who keeps telling me its...

It sounds like multiple problems. First of all these sets are famous for bad coolant between the tubes and lenses causing the picture to be degraded causing the foggy picture. The fluid can be changed to clear up the halo's. The double images are convergence issues. Most likely both convergence amps need to be replaced. I hate to say it but it sounds like you got a money pit. Good luck. Thanks for using fixya.

Bought an older hdtv, put on back to transport, there is a foggy glow and the color is off a little bit . magnavox, model#51mp392h/17, manufactured june 2004

Unfortunately rear projection TVs cannot be laid on their back. Their is coolant inside the CRT bulbs and they have vents in order to relieve pressure in the event they overheat extremely. My guess is that some coolant leaked out and has done some damage to the circuit boards inside the set. If you are lucky there is just a film of coolant on the lenses and they can simply be cleaned. I would open up the back of the set and investigate. Use lots of paper towels if you find wetness. Post a comment back here and let me know what you find.

Mitsubishi VS-50703 Picture Foggy

Open up the back and look for coolant leaks in the CRT's. If you are curious as to what it is, it's the same type of stuff they use to make antifreeze. If you see something wet, it should feel slippery if you get it on your fingers and rub them together.

Foggy HD projection TV

I think your refering to the CRT colant needing to be changed if it has a halo effect on the blue and green colors Also some times your picture can get dingy because the mirror gets dull. Try cleaning the mirror and tube lenses. Use a damp soft cloth on the mirror and lenses not windex.
