Question about JBL Northridge E 250P Subwoofer

1 Answer

Distorted output I have a problem with my JBL TLX-Sub175, I know it's not the listed model, but I couldn't find the correct category. The problem is a distorted output, either through the line level input, or the speaker level input. The Sub had been running fine with my Denon receiver at line level, but when I hooked it up to my Dad's amp at speaker level, the output was distorted and has remained that way ever since. I am confident its not the driver as I have tried a brand new one to the same effect, so I'm guessing its a problem with the amp? Any help would be greatly appreciated Drew

    Hi Snakehead,
Thanks for your response, however I'm not sure how to test cap diodes or transistors.
Any extra info you could provide would be great.

hi,
Is it JBL TLX 420 then its impedance is 4OHMS. You cant connect these speakers to denon rcd m 37, because its output impedence is 6 to 16 ohms.

My jbl cvsub50 blows a fuse instantly when turned on. I am assuming the amp is blown. anyone help?

Yes this generally means a major problem - main transformer or output transistor(s) likely.

One year factory warranty on the electronics.

I been having a problem with my JBL TLX CSS-SUB1, I don't have the manual. Connecting speaker wires from the JBL TLX CSS-SUB1 to the a Digital Audio/Video Control Center ( it's a reciever) I confused,...

The connection on the receiver would be the sub woofer out. Not a sub woofer out LFE, a sub woofer out with speaker wire connection. From there you plug it in to the top section of the available terminals on the sub you are referring to (speaker level input). One in positive and the other in negative matching what you did on the receiver with correct ends. The speaker connections underneath the top connections is for additional speakers like surrounds to be able to be connected directly to the sub woofer speaker level out for sound. This of course would be for an older receiver connection. I do not think it is possible to convert this connection to an LFE and have it work properly. If the receiver does not have sub woofer speaker connection and only a RCA out then you can try to connect both rear speaker connections from the receiver to the speaker level inputs on the sub and then connect your rear speakers to the speaker level output on the sub to power them. This is an active sub woofer but for some reason they made it connect as if it was passive. I am not sure if this sub is designed for really low frequencies required for movie or if it is better for music.

JBL TLX PS10 Subwoofer - Does not work

If you have checked the fuses which it sounds like you have, your amp may be out. Take that RCA and plug it into the other speaker. If thar she blows, treat as warranty and call the factory. If this is helpful, please post as such.

SYLVAN.

THE FILTERS /FILTRES ON YOUR SPEAKERS ARE TORN OR DAMAGED. IF YOU STILL HAVE WARRENTY ON THEY FROM JBL YOU CAN RETURN THEM FOR NEW ONES, PROVIDING THAT IS COVERED. IF NOT. I PERSONALLY RECOMMEND YOU BUY YOU SOME NEW ONES. REPAIRING WOULD BE OK, BUT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN VERY QUICKLY.

Thank you. Let me know what your decissions are
