Question about IBM ThinkPad R51 Notebook

1 Answer

Automatic syncronization issue

For some reason, this IBM Thinkpad R51 will not automatically synchronize with user's network drive after it is shut down, powered back on and logged on to. As soon as any key is pressed, synchronization does take place. However, it automatically synch's OK when user either does a 'Log Off' or 'Restart' instead of 'Shutdown.'

Any idea why this is happening?

I have ibm r51 thinkpad but i want sound driver & lan drive

The same model ThinkPadcan have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless youknow exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download allthe drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver. When you download thedrivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a recordof which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files arelocated on your hard drive. Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEBsite - support/download page and download the latest Windows device drivers foryour model computer, Use this link: - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true

When i insert new Ram in IbM r51 its getting restart automatically blue screen appear before restart

The problem is the RAM you inserted into the computer. Your laptop supports DDR PC2700. It will not work with DDR2 or DDR3. If it is not, you will need to get a different type of memory. If you have used the correct type of memory and it is inserted snugly, it is likely the RAM is defective, and you should return it.

I have ibm r51 and ihave install windows7 it but after that i dnt get the sound drivers

Just turn on automatic updates, or manually check updates from Start>control panel>system and security>check for updates. It will atomatically search for missing driver and you can install.

Hope that helps. Please Rate. Thanks.

Supervisor password

A Supervisor password protects the system information stored in the BIOS. The user must enter the Supervisor password in order to get access to the ThinkPad BIOS Setup Utility in order to change the system configuration. If the Supervisor password is forgotten there is no way to reset it to enter the BIOS configuration. Setting a Supervisor password automatically sets the master Hard drive password. The following is the icon that comes up in the upper left corner if a Supervisor password is set:
A forgotten Supervisor password will prevent access to the ThinkPad BIOS setup utility. To regain access, the system will need to be serviced to have the system board and hard drive replaced. Proof of purchase is required, and this repair is not covered under the warranty.

Laptop can't aquire IP address

This sounds to be a compatibility issue with either the wireless software or wireless card. Check to see if there are any updated drivers for the wireless card at IBM's support site. If there aren't any or the card still doesn't work after the updated drivers are installed, then you might try a different/newer internal wireless card, or a universal external wireless card for use with your home system.
