Re: hooking up home theater

It sounds as if you need to turn the TV's built in speakers off.

WEP- Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP)is a wireless security protocol for Wireless Local Area Networks(WLAN). WEP provides security by encrypting the data that is sent overthe WLAN. Select Enabled or Disabled. Disabled is the default setting.(Note: If you enable encryption on the DI-524 make sure to also enableencryption on all the wireless clients or wireless connection will notbe established.)

Diffrent between Dynamic&static ip address

Static IP address is usually a single IP address provided by the ISP to you, which can be configured so that you can run a web server (host web sites etc), or access your home computer from any where in the world ( your computer and internet should be on ).

Dynamic IP address is usually IP address provided by the ISP to your DSL modem / computer (for dialup modems) for that internet session, next day or next time you connect the IP address will be a different one. (usually home internet connections are Dynamic IP based.

In a typical home environment if you have one wireless adaptor and planning for a wireless repeater its better to configure dynamic IP address in the repeater (so that you repeater will acquire IP address from the wireless adaptor)

I want to get a password in my dap-1150

when you say you want to get a password in your WAP I assume you want to enable security: there are 3 different ways to do it:

Enable WEP
(this is the most basic one and should be sufficient if you don't have a known hacker around your neighborhood and if you don't do transmit any critical information from your computer, ex. large and critical bank transactions.)

Step 1 Log into the web-basedconfiguration by opening up a web browser and typing in the IP addressof the access point (

Step 2 The default username is admin (all lower case) and the password is blank (nothing). Click OK.

Step 3 Click on the Home tab and then click Wireless on the left side.

Step 4 Click the Enabled radio button next to WEP.

Step 5 Next to WEP Encryption, select the level of encryption (64 or 128 bit).

Step 6 Next to Key Type, select HEX or ASCII. You will need to use the same key on all your wireless devices.

HEX - use 0-9 and A-F only.
ASCII - All numbers and letters.

Step 7 You can enter up to 4 different keys. Select the key you want to use by clicking on the corresponding radio button.

Step 8Enter your encryption key. You make this up yourself. If you selectedHEX, then enter a key made up of a combination of numbers (0-9) andletters (A-F). For example - A4572BCC19 (HEX).

Step 9 Click Apply to save settings.

Note:If you are configuring your access point from a wireless adapter, youwill lose connectivity as soon as you click Apply. You must enable WEPon your adapter and enter the same exact key as you entered on youraccess point.

Enable WPA-PSK (Passphrase) (this one is better than wep, this is the one currently suggested, it's not uncrackable but it's certainly harder than wep)
It is recommended to configure WPA-PSK on your wireless access point before your wireless network adapters.

Step 1Log into the web configuration of the DWL-G700AP by opening up a webbrowser and typing in the IP address of the Access Point(

Step 2 The default username is admin (all lower case) and the password is blank (nothing). Click OK.

Step 3 Click on the Home tab and then click Wireless on the left hand side.

Step 4 Next to Authentication select WPA-PSK using the radio buttons.

Step 5Enter a Passphrase. The passphrase or key is an alpha-numeric passwordbetween 8 and 63 characters long. It can include symbols (!?*&_)and spaces. Make sure you enter this key exactly the same on all otherwireless clients.

Step 6 Click on the Apply button then click on the Continue button to save your settings.

Make sure you enter the same exact WPA-PSK Passphrase on your wireless clients.

It is recommended to configure WPA on your wireless access point before your wireless network adapters.

Step 4 Next to Authentication select WPA using the radio buttons.

Step 5 Under 802.1X enter the IP Address, Port and Secret Key for RADIUS Server 1. Repeat for RADIUS Server 2 if applicable.

Step 6 Click Apply and then Continue to save the settings.

the following one is to make sure only those who know the name of your router (SSID) can access it. it's not setting up a password but it's another level of security

Disable SSID Broadcast
Step 1 Open your web browsersuch as Internet Explorer and enter the IP address of the DWL-G700AP inthe Address bar and press Enter. The default IP address is192.168.0.50.

Step 2 Enter your username (admin) and your password (leave blank by default). Click OK.

Step 3 Select the Advanced tab and then click Performance on the left side.

Step 4 Next to SSID Broadcast, select the Disabled radio button.

Step 5 Click Apply to save your settings.

the next one, as the one before. it's not a setting a password but to make sure only those network adapters you have or know can access your router, it's another level of security

MAC Address Filtering
Step 1 Open your web browserand type the IP address of the access point in the address bar. Thedefault IP address is At the login, enter your username(admin) and password (default password is blank). Click OK

Step 2 Click the Advanced tab and then click Filters on the left side.

Step 3 In the section MAC Filters, select the radio button for the mode you would like to use.
Disabled - Disables this feature and will allow all wireless clients to connect.

Allow - Blocks all clients except for what you enter in the list.

Deny - Allows all clients except for what you enter in the list.

Step 4 Enter the Ethernet MAC address that you wish to Allow or Deny.

Step 5 Click Apply and then click Continue to save your settings.

I work in the GPS industry and I am looking for a way to transmit a gps signal from a basement of a concrete building. A little background, I work for a company that monitors *** offenders. I work in a...

I don't think that would be legal unless something is type accepted by the FCC for the satellite frequencies that are involved. It probably wouldn't be a good idea if the public were to start "repeater" transmissions on the GPS satellite bands. They do that in Cellular ... and they even often have problems there with "repeater"s going into oscillation between the outside and inside antenna if installed incorrectly - which tears up cellular companies towers.

If there isn't anything made legally to do this, and you were to make something without FCC acceptance, then you'd become the offender and could end up wearing the same gps bracelet you're working on.

If ... the gps devices would take an external antenna, then you could run an outside antenna and jack that in for testing and activation.

You need to disable the dhcp server on the access point. This will conflict with the bt router since it too has a dhcp server. Hope this helps

Problem with sitecom wl-130 connection

I think I have the solution: you have to click on the basic settings tab, then n "site survey" button, then (optional) on "refresh" button.
Now you will get the information about your network, and you just have to check the channel number of the signal from your main router. then you have to set that channel in the "channel" button of the basic settings tab. You also have to choose Universal repeater as working mode of the sitecom device, instead of Access Point.
Hope it helps.
By the way, all these settings should be automatic in such a device.... But this sitecom range extender is ****.
I suggest everybody is reading: DON,T BUY THIS ITEM!!!! Spend 10 bucks more and get a working one!!!
