When I scan 4 A4 size sheets, my Lexmark 6100 produces large pdf file - 16 MB. I know that is way too high b'cos the printer at my office produces files less than 300 KB.
Please help.
If the documents you are scanning are black and white, make sure you are selecting that in the scanner dialogue box. If you need to keep gradiants, but don't need color, try selecting grayscale. If you are adjusting your DPI (dots per inch) to the maximum (300), try using something lower (recommend 150). Lastly, check the settings in the software you use to create PDFs to ensure they are the same as what you use at the office.
The problem seems to be with Lexmark scanners. I scanned the same file before with a Brother scanner with the same setting - black and white (line art), 300 dpi. One page scanned by Brother came out as a 34 kb pdf file. Lexmark came out with a 1,083 kb pdf file. I've used HP and Agfa scanners before to scan documents into black-and-white 300 dpi pdf files and I've never had to deal with MEGA (1 MB and above for one page) pdf files.
What is wrong with Lexmark scanners/MFPs?

I have the same problem with Lexmark X7350. Started after switching to new computer with Vista 64. pdf files are now much larger.
