Question about Technics SUV500 2-Channel Amplifier

I can barely hear output even when the volume is at 100%

I got a system from a friend of mine that appears to be in great shape however, when I hooked it up I can barely hear the sound out of the speakers. I tested the speakers with another system and they were fine. If I crank the volume up to 'full blast' I can hear it but faintly. Its like standing next to someone who has ear buds in and the volume is too high, you can hear the tinny overflow but its not really music. I looked for something that would look like a fuse or switch on the outside of the case but nothing. I pressed the help/reset button and the text says system is operating correctly. Any advice is appreciated. I have it connected to a tuner and a cd player and the result is the same regardless of the source. Thanks in advance. System: Technics SU-G88

You may have the tape monitor button pushed in or if you look on the back of the unit you may find a pre-out/main-in set of rca jacks. If you don't have a switch to bypass those jacks then you will need to use a set of 2 RCA jumper cables or some stubs made for that purpose. Hope this helps.

I know exactly what this problem is, you have a dry joint inside. I get exactly this problem every couple of years, I take it to a repair centre and its back and working in a day or two.

Audiosource amp 100 on lower volumes right speaker louder than left speaker 2.1 setup

The problem is not due to how the circuitry is configured; the problem is due to failure of some element in the right channel amplification circuit. This will require detailed troubleshooting to correct.

I have a Denon UPA-100 amp as part of a 4 piece Denon 100 set,

THe click you would hear is the speaker relay turning on the speakers. If a problem is detected in the amplifier seciton, the relay will not engage. This is often called protect mode and is done to prevent damage to either the speakers or the amp itself. If I remember correctly, these units have discrete transistor outputs and can easily be repaired. These are not the easiest for access however. I would suggest a trip to the repair shop for this one. Expect a parts cost in the $40 range.

Carver home amp

The DVD system problably doesent have PRE AMP can take the record outputs from the DVD system and use them to connect to the input of the power amp. You then will need o use the Carvers volume controls as the volume controls as the record output of the DVD system will be a fixed output set at 0db.

Hi Tim,

You probaably do not have a phono input on the digital surround amp you are using. Your sound is bad for 2 reasons
  1. Your Turn Table has low output level, about 100 times less than a CD player.
  2. You need RIAA equalisation to reduce the treble and boost the bass. This is for replaaying any modern vinyl or LP's
You can get an outboard preamp that matches the output of your T/T to suit the normal aux input on todays digital surround amp.
You can get one online from here. Or if you are keen build one from a circuit here

NAD C740 no longer reproducing music through loudspeakers

what was your amp? ic or transistorized? the output transistor of your amp may be opened, mostly it will short but because u still hear sound, maybe open and only the driver transistor are working. replacing output transistor or IC could solve the problem.
