Question about NetGear WGR614 Wireless Router

1 Answer

Wgr614 wireless router will not connect

My router stopped connecting to my laptop. It worked fine for a couple months, then a day ago stopped connecting. I unplugged the router, I removed the wireless network from the laptop and refreshed/added it back on the laptop, inputed the network keys, but no success with either. Any thoughts? thank you!

re: clarification request - I have a desktop that is connected to it via the modem.

I accessed the router, adding the mac address of the laptop to the router info, and then it worked... I'm not a tech guy by any means, just monkey see monkey do.

    It works now, thanks again!

This makes me think that the wireless in either the router or the laptop has failed. Will the laptop connect ok if at another hot spot? if so, then you may have a problem with the router. If the laptop will not connect when somewhere else, then the wireless in the laptop has a problem. that could be a problem with the internal wireless card, or a driver file corrupted. Check the wireless card through the device manager to see if windows reports it working properly, and make corrections there as may be necessary. If windows reports all is ok, you may need a new card.

If you find my suggestions to be helpful, please share with us some details so that others may benefit from knowing the whole story. Thank you!

Please check your laptop is getting wireless signal or not from your router.

If not then check your router is working fine or not with other device also.

TEW432-BRP Trendnet wireless broadband router wont connect

Sounds like you need to configure the PC's USB wireless adaptor. The settings must be the same as the router. If you use a WEP password on the other connections then you need to have the same password on the USB wireless adaptor. Good Luck.

have you restarted the router? if so, then see if Belkin offers a firmware update. You will need to connect with a cable to do the update.

Wireless problems

Hi there,

Here in Denmark, lots of people are well tired of this router.
It often loose internet connection, but a hard-reset fix the problem most times.
Maybe you just have to unplug the power for a few seconds and then plug it back in, - wait for a minute or two until all the lights are on.
If this doesn’t work, please respond, and well find another solution.

Router disconnects when wireless computer connects

hello!

i have the same problem before and i called supportrix and here are some tips that may also help you solve ypur problem

-- are you experiencing the same problem if you connect your computer directly to the modem? this may help you isolate if its a problem with your router or with your modem / isp

-- have you tried upgrading the firmware of your router? this may help you fix other internal problem on the router aside for upgrading the current settings of your router.

-- do you have other devices running with the same freqeuncy of your router? chances are that you may also encounter some interference on the wireless part of ypur router so make sure to disable these other devices

if you are still having trouble configuring your device, try to call supportrix

Network Cable Unplugged

mairelina, if all was well 2 days ago then resetting the router should fix your problem. usually a small button on the back of the router.

chelliepooh, you need to check that the router's wireless function is on. connect using the ethernet and go to the config page (usually 192.168.1.1) make sure wireless is on and security is set to wpa-psk.
