Rp5120-A Message: Bad File Format

Voice Recorder was just reformatted. It now records beautifully and file can be played back from Recorder. However, when trying to listen to file on Digital Voice Manager, or when trying to copy or transfer file from recorder to Digital Voice Manager, the Bad File Format message appears. Files that were transferred before recorder was reformatted can be played back from Digital Voice Manager without any problem.

That must be the same problem I have. Every other file downloaded alright but the 12hr recording kept giving bad file format with 0X80070570 error code. Any solution?

SOURCE: Sony ICD-B600 voice recorder

Use a cable running from the headphone jack on the recorder into your PC microphone jack. Then you can capture the audio using Windows MovieMaker software that comes with Windows XP. I have done this and it worked perfectly.

SOURCE: RCA's RP5120 Digital Recorder has VOC format, can't share or copy to CD

Version 4.04 of the software has a utility to convert to .VOC files to .WAV or even .EXE. (Are there really folks who would prefer to receive an .EXE file in email?)

I've read in several reviews that you can save .VOC files as .MP3 files using the provided software, but either this feature is no longer available, or the reviewers were mistaken.

You can convert .WAV files to .MP3 files simply. You may find one such converter for free on C|NET at:

A 5 minute google search (wav to mp3 freeware) revealed 3 absolutely free utilities which will do this. I, too, wish mp3 support was native with this product, but I can live with using these utilities.

Try reformatting the yamaha 2G Pocketrak using the setting under Common. THe online manual mentions that if one uses the PCM setting for a lot of recording, it's a good idea to reformat more often.

Sony ICD-UX70/UX80 digital recorder...memory full problem

If you press and hold down the "menu" button scroll down to the FORMAT selection and press enter. This will reformat the device.
I had the same problem - I think it arose after disconnecting the IC Recorder when it became unresponsive with the computer.
Make sure you transfer all your files first to a computer or back up source.

Not playing full recording

Maybe it's the preview play option of the player that you are using. It only plays a part of the recording for you to identify if it is the right recording that you are trying to find because the recorded allows you to record more than one file.

yes you wiil. You are better off trying to save the corrupted file and try to repair it, instead of formatting your voice recorder.

Framesize is negative value

All I can say is, get used to it. Customer support will be of no help, at all. They;ll advise you to reformat, whcih will delete everything and does nto solve the problem. Then they will tell you to check your compatibility settings, which doesn't solve anything. I have this recorder, actually two of them and my brother in law has one. Two of them work fine, the toher does not. Sometimes it worls sometimes it doesn't. I wrote to support and told them I had reformatted numerous times without it helping. Guess what they said when they wrote back? They gave me instructions on how to reformat. They said I should backup my files so i would nto lsoe them. Well, I can't back them up if I can't get them off the recorder....I've ran into numerous people with the same problems and the same stories abotu customer support. SOme of the complaints date back over a year.

WS-300M Olympus Voice Recorder

you can rewind a tad and listen, but you can't overrecord, because a digital recorder writes audio information into a data file and saves it. you just can play it back again and record a new file. if you want to cut off a part of your recording, you have to edit the file in an audio editor. - as the olympus stores wma-files, you'll have to convert them into wav format first to edit them. i tried the 'switch' software successfully.
