Had same problem ,mouse constantly drifted even when connecting ext mouse\tried everything to solve.

Found solution in removing keyboard , the plastic strip at top of keyboard lifts to reveal 2 screws .remove these plus a central screw on the base of the laptop. Carefully lift keyboard and the thin flat keyboard cable slides into a connector on the motherboard. The two small black bits at side of connector push towards screen to release the cable.

I then put some thin tape over the first four connections(at left hand side of cable looking at laptop front view) on this cable. The connections stand out ,i think the cable was a different shade for these four connectors.

. These control the accupoint stick on the keyboard. They could also be carefully cut out. replace keyboard making sure to clip the keyboard cable in.
I can now use an external mouse without any drifting of the pointer ,only drawback is the accupoint stick does not work at all.

If you have a extern video graphic card
Please check if your motherboard has an onboard video. (INTEL motherboards for example) If so, go to the BIOS and disable it.
I had the same problem and not only with Logitec. I disabled the onboard video and no problem anymore! It has something to do with windows updates, I presume. But the problem is solved.

I bought an external mouse and now I can't turn the toutch pad off. It's becoming a pain for me when I'm typing. I did it once but I can't do it again. How am I supposed to go about disabling it?

Hellocrazybookworm,

To "Disable" the Mouse Pad, or ("Pointer Device").

  • Go to the Control Panel; select the (Mouse) in the Hardware and Sound category.

  • Next select the Device Settings, in the (Devices) block.

  • Click on, and "highlight the item you want to [Disable]" this being the "Pointer Device.

  • This will also "Disable" the "Mouse Pad."

  • Click the "Disable button," just below.

  • "Always ("click") on the, "Apply, and OK buttons before exiting.

  • *Note: Restarting the Computer, will configure "System" changes in the Computer.

  • To prevent errors from occurring. This is also important when, (Installing / Uninstalling) "Programs."

  • "To include (Enabling / Disabling) of Hardware."

If this information helped? Return and give a "Helpful Rating," please!

Mouse button is broken

Hi:

The touchpad and mouse buttons can be replaced, but it involves some serious disassembly of the laptop to do so, and I don't recommend trying it unless you have laptop repair experience.
A inexpensive alternative is to buy a wireless or wired mouse , and plug it into one of your usb ports. Most new mice , especially ones from microsoft come with software that disables the onboard mouse when you plug in a external one, and that would take care of your problem!

Battery light blinks when plugged in, does not work on battery

Check to see if it is putting voltage from the adapter with VOM. Most likely a bad battery

Right click not working

go into the mouse icon in the control panel and make sure its not disabled in there. If it is then enable it. If its not disabled in there then the board underneath your mousepad is bad. The right tactile button undernath the right mouse button is bad so the whole board would need to be replaced cause it comes as one whole board. You can get it directly from Dell or get one from Ebay.

Do you want to disable the onboard touchpad while you use an external mouse?
To do this there should be a key sequence on the laptop like Fn+ F8 (or another key) it has a mouse symbol on it.
