Question about HP Compaq dc5100 PC Desktop

HP desktop wont start up

I connected all the stuff to the computer( monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.) then i pushed the power button. Oh by the way this is a newer desktop. XP professional 40 gig 512 mb. You push the On button and the computer starts up but the screen stays black and the green light turns red and the built in speaker starts beeping over and over again really loud. The computer is running though sounds just like it should except for a black screen and beeping noise. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: HP desktop wont start up

Hi, depends on the beep sequence, it could either ba a bad memory or a bad video card. By being bad does not necessarily mean defective but could possibly be just loose. Try to open the casing/cover and reseat/push back into place the video card (if it is not built-in) and/or the memory. It is possible that they were jarred loose while in transit. Pls make sure the unit is unplugged before doing this. BTW, being new, you might void your warranty if you open the casing, pls check your warranty card. Hope this works out for you. Please let me know how things turn up. Regards

When I turn on the computer, the monitor massage states there is no communication signal with the computer

Warning: Before Doing the Below Steps don't forget to Unplug the Power cable, monitor cable, keyboard and mouse and any other device connected to your computer.

Do the following Steps.

Step 1: Open the PC case(not your monitir)
Step 2: Locate the CMOS battery on the mother board.

Step3: Remove the Battery and leave it for 4-5min, now put the battery back in its proper place.

After doing above steps now you can connect the power cable, VGA cable, keyboard, mouse etc... and switch on the computer and see if you are able to get display. If still you find the same problem you can try removing RAM from RAM bank and clean it with a brush or a cloth ,both RAM and RAM Bank. Now Put back the RAM and switch on the computer.

All the Best and Hope it will work for you.

My emachine T1742 desktop will not turn on. When plugged in the power supply's fan turns on, cpu fan doesnt start, both hdd/power led's flicker and pressing power button doesnt power on/off system.

Disconnect all the devices from the computer(tower) including keyboard, mouse, monitor(everything)..even the power cable

Now keep on holding down the power button on the computer tower for 15-30 seconds..

Now release the power button, plug in the power cable, monitor, keyboard, mouse and turn on the computer...

If it works, great!!!

Otherwise, take it for repair..

Acer desktop mouse, keyboard not functioning, monitor also not wor

If there is no display on the monitor, then your computer is not sending a video signal to the monitor.
This could be caused by a bad video card or some other hardware problem. I would open the case and disconnect all the devices (hard drive, CD, etc. Leave only the CPU, memory, and video connected. You could leave the keyboard and mouse connected too.
If your computer then starts, you can start to add devices (after turning the computer off) one at a time.
If this doesn't work, then you are looking at replacing the motherboard or just the video card if that is possible.

Emachine wont start

remove all external and internal peripherls.

example for external: mouse, monitor, keyboard, printer.

Internal: hard drive, memory modules, video cards, modem (if there's any), optical drive or dvd drives.

just leave the motherboard, power supply and processor intact, try turning on the computer with out those components mentioned. see if you get a beep sound before it turns off, but if not the most logical part that needs to be replaced on this type of problem is the power supply if that doesn't work the next thing to do is replace the motherboard. hope that helps

hit me back on the results. thanks!

Keyboard and mouse not working

On the bottom of the mouse is a tiny little button that says connect or that to finish the connection process. Sometimes that very same little tiny button is on the bottom of the transmitter, look to see and press. You can best push the button with a pen or pencil.
Check to see that your batteries are in correctly also.
I hope this helps and does the trick for you.
Good luck and please leave a rating, thank you kindly...
