What I'm looking for is a cord to plug into the modem, thus going into the outlet. Where can I purchase this at? Also to get up and running I purchased a dsl filter and a cat5e network cable. This is all I need? Thanks

Your modem if it is a Speedstream 5200 does not have any wireless capability and as such, there is no need for a password. You can only use one computer connected with an ethernet cable to your computer. What you can do is purchase a wireless router, preferably a N series wireless router because it is stronger than a normal G series router. Normally your modem connects to your computer via the ethernet cable. With a wireless router, instead of plugging the modem to your computer you should plug it in router. From the router you can connect another ethernet cable and plug it in on your desktop. You can connect at least 4 wired computer to your router. For the wireless part, all they have to do is look for the strongest wireless signal then hit connect. If it ask for a password then it should be in the sticker at the side of the wireless router.
you should be able to connect if you know your ISP username and password. You will also need to know the local IP of the adsl modem. usually this is 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. You will also need to know the user id and password to access the adsl modem. Often people leave it at the default. Then all you need to do is login to the modem and put in your ISP info and you should be good to go.
Check your DSL Filters on your house phones or anything connected to the phone line EXCEPT the modem. The modem should not have a filter on it. If this doesnt help I would recommend getting your ISP out to test the line because sometimes the resisitors or hardware in the box goes bad or at the DSLAM.
