Question about Sanyo SR-2410 Compact Refrigerator

1 Answer

Inconsistent temperatures I work in various small medical clinics. We all have similar refrigerators for vaccines. We have a problem with the refrigerators temps going very high and we have had loss of some very expensive vaccines lately. We had one refrigerator that actually went to 17 degrees and we had to dispose of all the vaccines in that refrigerator (several hundreds of dollars of loss). Most often the problem is that the refrigerators overheat and the temps get up to near 50 degrees (which is also the death knell to the vaccines). The refrigerators are installed. Some are sitting out on the open floor with airspace all around them (at least 5 inches) and others are in small cabinet spaces with some less than 5 inch spacing. All of them have the same problem. Some of the ones installed into the cabinets seem more stable than ones in the open. I have adjusted the thermostat on one to watch what happens and it cools down but, I am concerned that the temp may fall in the night when the store is closed. Help!

Re: inconsistent temperatures

I am in uk not us so this is guidance only. you should not really use domestic refrigeration for storage of drugs etc. this is because the temperature can vary considerably in the cabinet. you need medical refrigerators which have a fan to circulate in the cabinet.during the defrost cycle, the temp can rise considerably and this may be your problem. also if the doors are opened frequently, the fridge may not be able to high is your ambient temp?

Amana refrigerator knob

More snowflakes = colder. Place a small amount of water in a few cups in various spots in fridge, wait overnight, temp water if you want, otherwise if frozen; too cold.

Ed25e refrigerator running inconsistently

the knob you're turning is the cold control,it's a thermostat and it's sticking, when you turn it or tap on it you're freeing it up,you need to change it out .go here and see the part and part number 819470 it's around 55 dollars
when you remove the old control install the new one the same way,you might have to bend it a little and you have to cover the metal rod with the plastic cover that comes with it.not hard to do.

How does Auto defrost work and how long does it take

Hello there
A Look at the Defrosting System:
Modern refrigeration systems, whether industrial or household, feature a defrost system. A refrigeration system works by developing temperature below the water's freezing point. Long hours of continuous operation may lead to development of a layer of frost or ice around the freezer or the evaporator coil. This hinders the cooling capacity of the evaporator, making it difficult for the cooling effect to pass into the freezer. Without refrigerator defrosting, the layer of frost or ice leads to loss of cooling and lessening of performance coefficient of the refrigerator and higher electricity costs. There are various defrosting methods that your fridge can employ. Take a look at some of these defrosting methods.
Thermostat Defrosting:
Thermostat is a basic component in all modern refrigerators. The device allows you to set the freezer temperature that you want, depending on your requirement. Most often, a refrigerator with thermostat comes with a small plastic tray which can be found below the freezer compartment. This tray is where the excess water from your freezer goes to. The thermostat works by stopping the supply of power that is received by your compressor whenever the temperature that you have set has been reached.
The refrigeration unit stops producing the cooling effect whenever the thermostat stops, which happen several times a day. And during this stage, the frost or ice collected on the freezer starts to melt, with the resulting water collected in the tray. A small tube connects the tray to a small outlet usually located at the bottom back side of your refrigerator. A pan is installed there where the tube brings the water resulting from melted ice after defrosting.

We have a roper frig that we use for vaccine storage, the freezer does not stay cold enought for their storage; if we adjust to freezer temp for vaccines then refrigerator is too cold for storage

Good day,
Usually caused by the machine in a cool area or room, along with the machine not getting enough door action, both freezer and fresh food.

Domestic refrigerators are designed to be used as just that. Domestic refrigerators.
Normal kitchen temperatures, followed by minimum of 7 freezer door openings per day spread over 14 hours as well as 22 to 26 fresh food door openings over the same period of time.

In other words, it's not getting enough activity daily. Common problem in doctor offices.

The best model for that type of application in the past was the Amana bottom freezer model. where the primary control was located in the freezer, nailing the freezer temp, and the top controlled by a pneumatic damper controlling the fresh food section, but I do not know if their current model still uses that system.

One option, space permitting is a small chest type freezer added to what you have.

My Kitchenaid Fridge completely stopped working. It is completely dead. I did check to make sure the electrical receptacle was working. Repair clinic said it could be Wiring, Thermostat (didn't say which...

It's the defrost timer. Nothing else can shut off the cooling fan in the rear, the circulating fan in the freezer and the compressor at the same time. Try looking near your temperature control for a small hole that you can fit your small finger into. Grab a screwdriver and try turning the 2 tooth bezel located there. It won't look like a knob or adjuster, but that IS your defrost timer. Rotating it will restart your fridge, but the timer motor is bad so it will have to be replaced. This is just a quick way to confirm the diagnosis.

I have a magic chef 1.7 cubic compact refrigerator, it's been great, but I had quite a bit of ice build up on the little freezer compartment. I unplugged it, and used a hair dryer to melt the ice until it...

OK as long as you used a hair drier, and not a screw driver to defrost this machine, you should be fine, it shoudl take no more then 24-36 hours to regain the correct temp, this being said, not real comfortable with the over the internet diag of a unit that potentially "keeps people alive"

Refrigerator freezes things the freezer works fine:

Most common is a dirty condenser coil. If you have not cleaned it recently vacuum and brush the coil underneath and the back bottom compressor compartment. Blocked air flow will cause erratic temps in the refrigerator section.

I work in a medical office and our company just purchased an LG Model # LFC20740SW to accomadate more room to hold our vaccines. Well are ranges for refrigerator and freezer have to be within certain temps...

You need not worry about the defrost cycle. It just warms the external walls of the refrigirator and in the interior it will be about 20-25°C which i guess will be good enough to store vaccines. There is a work around to remove the deffrost thing but if defroster or the fan on the evaporater(inside coil)when the evaporater does not defrost it causes ice build up on it,this does not allow air to flow through it.The result of this is that the freezer will stay cold for awhile but the refrigerator section will not get cold enough.

Freezer keeps loosing its temperature and then freezes again

Sounds like a pc board problem. I have come across many units like these (although I don't know the Samsungs!) which have similar would seem like the freezer gets stuck in "defrost" mode and the ice would melt etc.etc.... In most cases replacing the electronics module solved the hindsight I have figured out that it was moisture on the pc board components that were to blame! So as a first resort I would locate the main electronics board and use a hairdryer to dry out thouroughly (even if it seems dry!) Also check values for temperature sensors....don't know what the specific values for the Samsung NTC's are, but normally they are in the low kOhm's.... Oshie
