I have the same problem. Intel sent me 2 replacement motherboards and 1 replacement D945 3.4 dc processor. I have changed heat sink, memory, hard drive and nothing works. All parts work when installed separately on other computers. It worked well for 15 months with XP Pro, then I switched to Vista.....

Is this a new setup? Are you overclocked? Do you have the latest drivers installed? Have you changed the bios settings for maximum compatibility?

when booting long press the delete button to enter bios, when your in, select the boot section and disable quick boot, then save and reboot, bios will check the memory or ram of your desktop.
after the test when the system reboot the same and didn't said ram fail or test fail the ram is working good.
now I'm sure that your running out of memory or lack of memory,
try to clean up your disk or delete unused files, or update the memory
probably your ram is ddr 1 pc333/400

Vista compatiable

intel doesnt list any vista drivers for that motherboard on there site so you might run into problems with the intergraded devices such as the ethernet, audio, chipset, & any intergraded video

You might be able to use the xp drivers but if theres problems it wouldnt be supported by intel

Is there any problem in using a 1GB DDR with 400MHz speed in Intel D845GVSR board?

Since Intel says that this board will support DDR with 200/266/333 MHz speeds only. There should not be problem with your board more so that it works fine.

IS DDR SDRAM IS DDR II RAM OR DDR

No. DDR replaced the SD in RAM so SDRAM and DDR RAM are two completely different things but each ram type has its own frequency hence you get SDRAM 100(mhz) and SDRAM 133(Mhz) just like you get DDR 1 RAM at 266(mhz) and 400(mhz) and DDR 2 RAM at 533(mhz) and 800(mhz). Therefore as you can see how these things differ, but if your mboard takes SDRAM that it can take and frequency of SDRAM but you must ensure that all the frequencies of all your RAM modules in all your slots correspond otherwise you will have problems, meaning that if you decide to use 133mhz RAM then all your RAM modules that you use must be the same. Let me know how you go. thanks
