I have the same problem with my printer.  Every time I turn it on, it prints a test page, wasting a lot of ink.  It grabs multiple sheets from time to time.  It also tends to jam quite easily, making it the most frustrating printer that I've ever owned.  I will never buy HP again.  I wouldn't even take one from someone.

You were being cheap when you ran out of ink and replaced only the Black Ink Cartridge.

Replace the Color Cartridge and the test page will stop printing when you turn it on.

None of the solutions I read here helped until I found this solution and it worked:
I suspect the page is a calibration page. If so you need to allow it to print and then place it face down on the scanner bed and press the scan button, the printer will then complete the calibration and you should not have to do this again until the next time you replace a cartridge.
Note that if either cartridge is not printing correctly the calibration may fail so you need to have good working cartridges for the process to complete.

Hi Marin,
It wants you to verify that the test page was successful.
Maybe uninstall and reinstall the software, and when it does the initial test page process, it should ask you to tick a box or something to verify that the printing alignment was successful.
Try that.

Here's the user manual for future reference:

Good luck :)

There isn't a solution. When the printer starts printing a test page evertime, placing the page in the scanner and doing another scan will have no effect. HP designers spend too much time drinking coffee and not enough time listening to customers. An alignment is totally unecessary anyway. Sorry, there should be an override but there isn't

Region codes for France for a photosmart c3180 all in one

Well I had the exact same problem with a C3180 bought in the USA and I moved to France. I called the HP tech support and after I bought 5 brand new cartridges upon their recommendation we haven't been able to print the 10 tap test page

I recommend that you try doing that before you call them otherwise you will be wasting your time

To print the 10 tap test page you need to press simultaneously CANCEL and START COLOR COPY. I couldn't print the 10 tap test page because the printer will not recognize the cartridges bought in France (START COLOR COPY and START BLACK COPY blinking + E in front of COPIES)

If somebody knows an alternate method to print the 10 tap test page, please share it as this is the blocking point with HP support

Thanks

Maxkath,

Rather than retype something that has already been typed, I've copied the link to the knowledge base article below.

Everytime I turn my HP PhotosmartC3180 on, it prints a test page.

I think probably it's a print alignment page, if you read the page it will probably give you instructions to place the page on to the scanner at the top and press a button for it to scan and automatically set the alignment. Do so and it should fix it :)

My printer keeps printing the test page every time it's switched on

Unplug the printer and leave it for three minutes and then plug it back in. This will reboot it and it may cure the problem.

My printer keeps printing the test page every time it's switched on

I had the same problem and it was driving me crazy until I did this. Please follow exactly and IN ORDER.

1. Turn off the printer and wait 10 seconds. Turn it on again

2. Let the printer print the test page.

3. After the test page is printed, disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer to your computer. DO NOT turn off the printer while disconnecting the USB cable.

4. Place the test page on the scanner glass and press the SCAN button on the printer. The ON light will flash as the page is being scanned.

5. Remove the test page when the ON light is steady.

6. Finally, turn off the printer and wait another 10 seconds. Then turn it on again. No more printing test pages! Yay!

(You may now reconnect the printer to your computer via the USB cable.)
