Won't Read blank disc!!

Error message reads "This disc can be neither played nor recorded. Please check the disc. [EC:0207]" I have the correct formatted disc and have tried various types of Dvds. I have also recorded on this unit successfully before. Problems have risen over the past two weeks and refuses to go away. Any suggestions?

I have bought the wrong speed of 16x DVDs, can the DVD-R121 recorder firmware upgrade to solve the problem for using 16x speed DVDs.Thanks.

I, too, have had this problem over the last few weeks on Verbatim DVD-RW 4x
It's annoying because it usually happens when I want to play something that has already been recorded on the disk. It seems to happen mostly with DVD-RW(VR) formatted disks. My PC cannot detect anything wrong with the disks. Nero quite happily writes to the whole surface. My next step is to reformat the disk as dvd-rw(v) and see what happens.

I have the same problem with new / blank discs. A JVC 1-8x disc is fine, but TDK (etc.) 1-16x discs are not. Would a firmware update solve this?

Update: I talked to Samsung Customer Support this a.m., and eventually got kicked up to a "Tier 3" support rep (ie., someone who in general actually has a clue.) She advised me to hold off on the firmware update, until "Support" can find someone (an engineer?) who knows what the update actually does. Apparently nothing she can find easily actually says what the firmware update is intended to do, and it'd be better to not cause some other problem... I am supposed to call back tomorrow. If I find out anything definite, or have success with solving this problem, I will post it.

Error message reads "This disc can be neither played nor recorded. Please check the disc. [EC:0207]"  This unit worked in the beginning, but now it will only record on a "RW" dvd. Help!!!

I found it rather amusing that I had the exact same experience as PRAudio! I called the number in the post and started out with a level 1 (English-challenged) tech, who put me on hold long enough to read the same document I read. I asked her to send me to level 3 and she sent me to level 2. I read the info posted here and asked the same question about the file and he put me on hold to ask someone. He came back and said they'd just send me the CD. I had to stiffle a giggle! I ran across another post (on another site) from someone who did the upgrade and he said that resolved the issue beautifully and he still has the unit in use today. Hey Fixya guys, you need to make this the best solution as the 4x DVDs are getting really hard to find.

Ok, I talked to Samsung support again today, and they confirm that the firmware update should correct the problem of incompatibility with 1-16x discs. They are going to mail a CD with the firmware update to me, at no charge. They were not, however, able to tell me if the file I had originally downloaded from their website was the same as what will be coming on the CD. Sheesh!!

If I can determine that they are the same file, I will post such info. here later. Otherwise, I would advise contacting Samsung support and requesting a disc.

IF you have trouble finding 4x or 8x DVD's, the DVD-RW that I have found are 4x and they work.
A little more expensive.

The wrong speed of DVD is being used. I had the same problem when I bought 16x speed DVDs. The DVD-R120 recorder only records on DVDs that are 8x or lower.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Sony DCR-DVD403 C 13:02 Error Message so won't record movies.

Place an empty disc in, format the disc, record a little scene. Turn off camcorder. Place the error disc in the camcorder, turn on the camcorder all the way to play/edit. If this doesn't work turn it to record and try to record. Worked for some of my error disc

Some recorders, especially Phillips REQUIRE using the "Music" CD's. It was a lame attempt at copyrright enforcement.

Won't record on blank disc.

Bulk disc that comes in cylinder case are some time faulty and loses quality because they packed on each other. The lens of the disc are sensitive so if disc is scratch or dirty will get error message "no read". Turn the unit off then unplug ac power cord for more than two minutes then reconnect and try disc again, if issue still exist purchase disc that comes in individual case.

Won't Read blank disc!!

I my DVD-HR735 wont recognise any discs at times, and is getting worse. I've now discovered (out of frustration) that if I tip the front up to between 30-45 degrees, it will play all the discs it says were unreadable. I've started jamming three dvd boxes under the front of the machine when i want to play dvds.

SAMSUNG DVD R120 error EC:0207

I had exactly the same problem -- error message of "This disc can be neither played nor recorded. Please check the disk [EC:0207]" after the machine had been working fine for a year. I downloaded the latest firmware from the Samsung website, burned it to a CD-R disk (took three tries until the DVD Recorder recognized the disk -- worked when I used Rocio CD Creater software), then loaded the firmware updates to the DVD Recorder. On the Samsung website you can retrive the firmware update instructions as well. I had to perform the firmware upgrade several times until it successfully updated both the system firmware as well as the disk firmware. After successfully updating both, the Recorder now recognizes the DVD-R disks and I was able to resume recording. I have however, noted some choppiness with the playback of the newly recorded disks. Other than that, the firmware upgrade successfully resolved the problem.
