How to turn on wireless capability

Install the wireless card driver if it is not installed.
To connect your computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh network list, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connect to your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Key before allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This Network Key is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is configured in the Wireless settings in the Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way to setup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrase or WPA or WPA2 key that was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router. Laptop wireless card problem. I bought a used computer. I've never had a laptop with a wireless card. It worked fine. Two lights blinked on the card. All of the sudden i couldn't get the internet....

If you do not have a wireless router which is connected to your Internet servce provider and now your laptop does not connect to the Internet then, you could have connected to your neighbour's Internet connection.
The reason why you cannot now get Internet access is, this neighbour has discovered unauthorized access to their unprotected wireless connection and has taken security steps to prevent further unauthorized access.

If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then - To connect to your wireless router, the router needsits wireless settings to be configured with the SSID, encryption key etc., alsothe wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router and access the Internet via the DSL or cable modem.

I can't turn the wireless on with the FN/F8 key

You need to be more specific when you post a question: eg. laptop/pc model and Operating system.
Hot Keys including Wireless on/off are specific to a Laptop and are 'programmed' to function: re-installed the Hot (or Smart) keys driver that came with the laptop. If you don't have the installation drivers CD/DVD, you can always download it FREE from the manufacturer site.
Hope it helps and let me know if this information is useful.

The right hand application button turns Wireless LAN on/off. The application buttons themselves do not require any drivers or software to work, they are pre-configured. Left button = email, middle = internet, right = WLAN hope this helps please vote thanks

Cannot turn on wireless lan with fn+f2 keys

1. first turn on the "wi-fi/wireless" switch on ur laptop manually.

2. now use the key combination for wi-fi/wireless

3. if it still not working, reinstall the wi-fi/wireless driver again, and restart ur system

Couldn't find the wireless connection on the says wireless connection is switched to switch the wireless communication on

gkmigmar -

Are you using a laptop? If so, the wireless adapter is turned on one of two ways:

#1 - There may be a physical switch, either on the front or side-edge of the laptop (when on, the wireless LED will will turn on, usually looks likes a little "beacon" or transmitting antenna-picture on the unit)

Or #2 - Look at the Function-keys at the top of your keyboard... generally either F2 or F3 is the wireless toggle switch (on many laptops). Look for a little picture of the "beacon" (or something similiar) on one of the F-keys. To toggle on and off:

Press and hold the Function Key ("Fn", located on the bottom row of your keyboard) and then tap the appropriate Function key. Again, the wireless LED should light up.

If you are using a desktop, comment on this post with the make and model of your desktop, and if the wireless adapter was included with purchase, and I will be glad to assist you in turning it on!

Hope this helps!

Cant see my wireless network on my laptop

You need to start by checking two things:

1. Is the wireless nic on the laptop turned on? Sometimes there is a switch or button on the laptop casing that turns the wireless nic on and off. Also you can sometimes turn the wireless nic on and off via a key combination on the keyboard. If you're sure it's turned on, take it to a wireless hot spot to verify that it is in fact picking up wireless networks in the area.

2. Did you connect to the wireless router using an ethernet cable, log into the routers configuration interface, and verify that the wireless access point is in fact turned on?

If the above does not lead you to a solution please answer the questions in this thread so that we can continue.
