SOURCE: no signal using multi cable
Hi! Had encountered this problem also. Dont lose hope, there's a solution to it. First, turn off console using switch at the back and disconnect HDMI and connect AV Cable. Turn on console and after seeing red light in front of PS3 press the soft touch ON button in front for 5 SECONDS. Your TV would flicker a while but then it would display the PS3 XMB. To be sure with this solution, you can find it in the troubleshooting page of the manual where the same problem is also stated. That would be all. Good Luck!!

SOURCE: no video signal
Try turning the console off, then holding down the on button until you hear a series of beeps, each beep representing the system switching video modes. (try testing another output source to make sure your tv is working correctly) if your tv accepts other video signals then you should find the correct one from your ps3 with this method. you may have to get it to work on AV or S-Video to make the appropriate changes to the HDMI and set the proper resolution for your television first.
Hope this helps.

Sony players are famous for this and you should call them. They have so many offices that its always hard to know which one to phone. But, that information should be in your user manual.
What it comes down to is the Sony supported Copy Right Protection Scheme, which is really complicated... so much so that it really causes problems for users.
Sorry I can't help you more with anything other than advice, but don't despair, give them a call and complain vociferously.
