Without having anything written down I can only imagine what the problem may be but I will give it a shot. The most common problem with dishwashers other than being too dirty it the timer inside the door. If the timer fails or there are contacts missing on the relays then the dishwasher may only do parts of the cycle or stop half way through. That is what I would check first, other than cleaning it of corse.
