Question about Samsung SCH-i730 Pocket PC

1 Answer

Is the screen bad or something else??

I bought a SCH-i730 Pocket Pc from a guy on EBay. I probably payed more than i should have for it but it looked in new condition and came with a bunch of extras. After i finally got the phone i loved it. About 2 days later i just changed the battery... Powered the phone back on... and as i looked at the screen it seemed fine at first then slowly it got distorted beyond reading.. About 30 seconds later it was on the calibration screen which i could barely see and wouldn't respond to touches on the screen. Verizon says it's not worth fixing. So it's been stored for a little while. When i got it out today thinkin to look for a new screen it actually tried to work for about a minute and did the exact same thing. I ended up getting talked into a Voyager when i went to Verizon to ask about gettin the i730 fixed. But i personally really liked the i730 more. I won't have any problem changing the screen myself. What i really need is somewhere to get a screen and someone to assure me that the screen is the problem and maybe not something internal.............. If anyone can help me with this i would have a new best friend!! Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Sounds like some area in your screen will no longer connect. I lost about 1/8" of the right side of my screen. To run the calibration, I touched the screen left of where the dots appear. I had to tap the four dots about twenty times before it came out of calibration mode. That part of the display will probably never operate again.

Yes, once you turn the wifi on it should disable the phone anyways, which sends all internet communication onto your home wifi (Internet you pay for via dsl or cable)not the phone providers.

The tapping on the bottom of the screen does not work

I took it into a Verizon store. The kid told me this happens enough to not be a rare occurence. Of course, this was a store where they only sold phones but didn't repair them, so I'll be going in to the other Verizon store (on the same street nevertheless) today.

I730 phone module fatal Error

I've had my i730 for years. Never had that problem. Virus? Or maybe just too much info in it. I used mine on a picture web site and that about wiped it out. But the reset took care of that.

Internal Antenna not working anymore

if you do a search at pdaphonehome.com a guy has replaced his antenna and provided step by step instructions for how to do it yourself with pictures. I don't know if frying it can make sure getting a new antenna will fix that but thats something you can try before replacing.
