My headset microphone doesnt works plz hel...

hello, i bought those cheap headsets and the mic does not work, i mean windows and my audio card detect it but when i talk in it it does nothing, its only feedback, and the feedback is not related with my voice (like when i talk loudly, there is not more feedback as usual. It's as if the mic doesnt even hear my voice). Do u have any suggestion/ideas to fix this?
