The door won't lock on closing and the two hooks on the side of the door 'flop'
Apparently they are supposed to stay up, but just 'flop'

The door latch broke off. We tried to regluse it but it will won't latch good enough for the microwave to cook. Will this be a costly item to fix? Are we better off buying a new Microwave?

The spring is off inside.

Normally the problem is not the spring itself, but a broken spring mounting tab on the door latch head (hook) assembly or the inner door panel.

door doesn't lock closed and cooking unable to pro - f0d6be4.jpg

If it's the door panel, it's usually easier and cheaper to use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

The door latch head (hook) is easy to replace or repair if that's the issue.

Normally you have to separate the door panels as shown in the attached photo to get to the innards.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

Door Latch

If the microwave door won't open the door latch might be broken. The door latch is inside the microwave. The door hook, which is part of the door, engages with the latch to keep the door closed during operation. If the door latch or actuator breaks the door may not open.

Door Hook

If the microwave door won't open the door hook might not be releasing properly. The door hook is installed inside the door and normally releases when the door is opened. The hook is made of plastic and will break over time. When this happens it will need to be replaced, it can't be repaired.

NEFF H5430NOGB Integrated oven - door won't close, the ;hooks on the door itself seem to have gone loose so they ill not clikc inot place when trying ot close, door just flops open.Amy ideas???

I had this problem. The spring inside the door which pushes the the latches down had broken (plastic peg had broken off).

I managed to fix it by attaching the broken end of the spring to the door frame using a small nylon cable tie using the small hole in the plastic fingers which was already there. Note you need to remove the inside door surround.

See the following link to remove the plastic cover on the door

I had an interim solution which was to tie some thin string to the latch and feed it under the door and pull on the string when closing the door (when it should be latching.

Panasonic Microwave NN-T785SF Door switches are broken.

Oddly enough, the switch holder is called a "door hook". For this model, it is part # F3020-1200 in case that is bad.

The hook assembly that protrudes from the door is called the "door key".

If you gently push up on the door key there should be spring tension. If it just flop right up, the spring is off inside.

Normally the problem is not the spring, but a broken spring mounting tab on the door key or the inner door panel.

If it's the door panel,it's usually easier and cheaper to use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

The door key is easy to replace or repair if that's the issue.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo)and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

The best place to order parts for this brand is Tritronics. Or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835. Their Web site will be down until Jan. 2nd.
