Question about Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

Which One To Choose?

Dear Sir,
I am Fahad from Pakistan, I am going to build a Computer with the following things but I will upgrade it with a Graphics Card after wards:

1.INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q6600 2.40Ghz (8MB CACHE - 1066 MHZ FSB)
2. Asus P5QL-CM with 256mb VGA built-in
3. 160gb Hard Disk
4. 2gb Corsair Dominator Ram
5. DVD-RW
6. Standard Casing

These all things are in my budget. The things I am confused in are. First, the processor, I want to ask that is this processor good or should I upgrade it for future benefits. Secondly, is this motherboard be suitable for future, like I add a XFX Graphics Card to it.

Thanks
Fahad

I didn't see any detail at Asus on what Bios is shipping currently. Intel and Asus state the Bios needs to be 0211 or greater or you will have to flash it for this CPU to boot.

That CPU is Wattage hungry so your power supply should be at least 550Watts capable of a sustained demand of 450Watts minimum.

The motherboard you selected is really small, I wouldn't put this in a small system case and it and your future video card will be heat generators and you will want a front 120mm and rear 120mm fans minimum. The larger the case width the better as you have more air inside, not to mention your hands at work.

Any Antec Sonata level case will do. A side door with air funnel is advisable for the CPU fan.

This board is also not able to provide dual PCIe SLI. Which isn't really needed much anymore.

Since your board can have 6 SATA devices that's suitable for dual DVDs on SATA and four SATA Hard Drives. That's more heat and the need for a case that will support four hard drives with proper cooling, ideally the front 120mm fans should be in front of or just behind the hard drive cage.

For the money, the motherboard could be better. But, you seem be building an Intel centric system, so it will do. I found its better to have full size AT boards frankly as the components aren't squeezed into a small amount of space.

What is the make and model of power supply you will be using? What are you actual cooling objectives?

What are you going to use the computer for? Gaming? Or Office use?

The processor is on the high-end. It's actually overkill for normal word processing / internet surfing. It's pretty good if the computer is for gaming.

Your motherboard is okay, but not great. Perfect for office use, but I wouldn't recommend it for gaming. It will not be very upgradable. It lacks RAID, and SLI/Crossfire support, and it only has two slots for ram, not four, making upgrading your RAM expensive.

My suggestion for a motherboard is the Asus P5N-D:
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=627&l4=0&model=2033&modelmenu=1

That one has RAID, SLI, two PCI Express ports, four ram slots, and also has a 5.1 sound card built in.

If you do decide to upgrade your video card, I suggest an NVidia GeForce 9800 GTX. They're about $200 and quite good for gaming.

Don't forget the other things your computer needs:
450 watt PSU or better
cpu fan, chassis fan
thermal grease / silicone paste

Hi, I m Muhib from pakistan Sir i have a

Hello Muhib --
welcome to FixYa.

Your HP Laserjet 2100 has many ports and ways of printing
1) irDA -- infrared port ... only works when computer is within 1 meter and 15 degree angle line of sight. -- Infrared way
2) Parallel port -- PC compatible way
3) LocalTalk port -- Macintosh way

In addition, you might print with PCL (HP's proprietary Printer Control Language) or this PS (Adobe Postscript) language.

Depending upon how complex your documerts or graphics are, it could take a while to queue and print your page as the printer has very litle internal memory installed. You can add more printer memory. DIMMs are available in 4, 8, and 16 MB, for a maximum of 52 MB, however the cost of the memory chips may exceed what it takes to purchase a more modern printer that already has enough memory inside.

If you have Windows, then I would recommend that you check your printer driver. If it is a Postscript driver, then try removing it and installing a PCL driver instead.

Muhib, I also recommend that you download the manual for the printer.
It may also benefit you to choose an up-to-date driver from the HP web site:

Good luck!

Can i download the c.d to program it to my computer?

You can download software that is usually found on CDs that ship with the printer. Lexmark support has the following files for your X1270. Be sure to download the correct one for your operating system:

If you have recently upgraded to Windows 7, please view the link "Upgrading to Windows 7?" at top.

Dear Sir/ Ma'am,

Please carry out the steps in the following order:

I kindly request that you do a Firmware update from the Kodak website and then proceed with the re-calibration of the unit . The link is as follows: www.kodak.com/go/drivers
Installation Instructions:
This firmware version improves the following:
a.. Error recovery
b.. Scanner performance
c.. Calibration for media detection

CAUTION: Turning your printer on or off during this procedure will render your printer inoperable. Wait for "Upgrade is complete. You may now use your printer." to appear on the computer screen.
1. Download the firmware file to your desktop.
2. Verify that your printer is:
a. Connected to your computer and turned on.
b. In the Ready state.
3. Double-click the *.exe file on your desktop, then follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Wait for "Upgrade is complete. You may now use your printer." to appear on the computer screen. This may take several minutes and the printer will turn off and on during the process.

It will require you to also recalibrate a media sensor in the printer after you perform the firmware update. To recalibrate the media sensor, you will need to do the following:
a) Load ONLY ONE sheet of Kodak Bright White Inkjet Paper, if not available please use another high quality inkjet paper. (A4)
b) Press the COPY & CANCEL buttons on the printer simultaneously.
c) The printer will feed the single sheet of paper through the printer.
d) The Media Sensor will be re-calibrated, however it will not give any indication that it was. There will be no message saying that it was successful.
-> Remove the ink cartridges
-> Remove the Printhead (Upon removing the cartridges look into the slot where the black cartridge fitted into. On the vertical wall at the back you will see two small contact points. Place your finger above those points on the black plastic and run your finger towards the top of the printhead. You will feel a little button and by pressing it, it will release the Printhead. When inserting it ensure that you hear it click into place)
-> Thereafter you can Deep Clean the Printhead. Open Kodak Homecentre, click on the "?" on the top right corner, choose "Maintenence" and "Clean Printhead"
-> Open Kodak Homecentre, Click on the "?" on the top right corner, choose "Maintenance" and "Calibration".
-> Please now choose the option to print a "Demosheet" in the "Maintenance" section of the Kodak Homecentre Software.
If this does not resolve your issue please advise us on the print quality of the Demosheet.

Please also note that you can carry out full troubleshooting on your product and arrange repairs at http://www.kodak.com/go/itg (UK only). You can also contact Kodak 24/7 by Chat at http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/chat/index.jhtml
