On the drivers and downloads for this criteria, Click the (+)Video and choose your desired VGA controller driver then download it. You may now successfully install your VGA driver.

How to make the picture from laptop to projector the right size.

I would suggest it's probably a screen resolution an older laptop VGA output was probably 800x600. The projector will also have a recommended and maximum resolution. The newer laptop will have a much higher resolution. You will need to adjust the laptop's video resolution to the optimum projector resolution

Screen resolution drivers missing

Try installing the latest driver.
You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, thesupport download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers for your Windows operatingsystem. I need to change the screen resolution and the slider bar under display will not move from 640 x 480 or 16 bit. I just had to reinstall Windows XP pro after it crashed and I didn't have the problem...

Hi Friend, As you have told me that you have reinstalled Windows on the system and after that you are not able to select the screen resolution. So, I believe that you might try updating the video drivers for the system that can fix the issue.
Here is the link of latest video drivers for Dell:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R111509&SystemID=LAT_PNT_PM_D400&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=3110&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=9&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=0&libid=6&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=145641
Please yry and let me know if it was of help.

You have to be absolutely sure you are downloading the correct display drivers for your system. The dell installers are very picky.
There are 2 video drivers here is the link.

It appears that the wrong graphics driver was installed.
You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still,
type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom
of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag
label is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS
pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the
page where the specific drivers for your model computer are located.
Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the
drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on this link to
