Are you asking about data recovery or reinstalling the operating system or using the restore to an earlier restore point? For specific help please answer that and tell me which operating system that you are using and which computer. Steve

Everytime i boot up i get an error message stating that there was a boot failure and it loads in safe mode then it prompts me to buy some software to repair my netbook

Sounds like a combination of 2 things.
  1. Machine has contracted a virus.... On startup, the machine would never prompt you to buy anything unless it's infected with a virus or malware.
  2. Corrupted bootlog....Any boot failure is usually due to a corrupted bootlog. This can be for a variety of reasons ie improper shutdown, bad battery, or what I think is the case here is a virus or malware.
If possible, boot directly into safe mode (tapping F5 key while booting). From there you can try different options ie Last known good configuration, run memory test, system restore. If you can't run your anti-virus package in safe mode, you may need to attempt a system restore, preferably to a point just prior to where you picked up the virus.

Format all your hard drive and do a clean install, One tip though, how to avoid Virus attack is not letting the virus to your system, how? for example, a virus came from your USB drive, it won't attack your system if you cancel all the autorun pop ups when you insert the usb drive and do not double click on it, double clicking on USB triggers the Autoplay and virus spreads out like a pandoras box, If you get what I mean it could save you from virus.

Install a good Anti Virus of your choice and always update the virus definition in order for you to be fully protected and be very careful on clicking links on some websites, anti virus has a feature that knows if a website has a potential virus or not, use it.

Speed Up Your PC/Notebook!! - Windows

Hi,

Note - We are not responsible for any Damage/Data Loss!!

Many People have observed that the speed of the PC/Notebook is really slow. It makes people mad when it take minutes to even open a File or Song.Certain steps would ensure that this would be taken care of.

1. Basic Settings - RAM is the best measure of the Speed. More the RAM, more the processing speed and vice - versa. In an experiment, it was shown that XP can run even on 128 MB while most of the other Operating System Failed. So, if you are using XP, you should be glad enough to know that.

Ideally RAM should be more than 256MB. ( Higher - Better Results )

2. Norton - In a report, it was indicated that the speed of PC was slow due to Norton Applications. However, Norton do officially introduce patches that would fix this. I would advise you to use a Different Anti - Virus, but even if you want to use Norton, Make sure it should be updated. For Norton update, Right Click the Norton icon on the Lower Bottom corner of the task bar and click on Update. Once updated, it would improve the situation.

3. Virus, Adware,Spyware, Malware, Keyloggers - Always aware of all these. If you have any one of these installed/Present in your PC/Laptop, this is dangerous. These could make permanent registry changes and crash your PC. Make your PC work like insane that you need to wait even more than 5 minutes for an application to open. The hardest part, your data could be stolen without your authorization.

Install an Anti - Virus and Scan the Complete PC/Notebook to make sure everything is all Set to GO.

4. Data - You might have observed whenever you want to save Data, the first option you get is Save it - Windows C. This is the Drive ( On most Occasions ), where your Windows Files are situated, Always try to avoid data in the driver where you have Saved Windows Files. You would see an improvement.

5. There are Few other steps like Disk Clean and Defragmentation of the Hard Drive that would also help you.

6. Virtual Memory - You must have hear regarding Virtual Memory. This is the best bet , if you want to increase RAM speed without adding physical RAM.This option works like miracle.

This would also Fix Error's like - YOUR SYSTEM IS LOW ON VIRTUAL MEMORY OR SYSTEM IS DANGEROUSLY LOW ON RESOURCES

There is a Well Known Trick for XP Users - They could increase the Speed tremendously by Disabling the Group Policy Option in your Computer.

7. Registry Clean - If your system is slow after a recent Virus/Adware attack ( Even after removal ), or might work in a strange way, after you have installed a Software/Driver or due to some change you made , it would mean that there has been a change in Windows Registry. You need to Fix this. Either Restore the PC or Download Registry Cleaning Software.

I hope the above point's would be able to Fix 99% of the problems associated with Speed.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Well, your problem seems to be due to a virus attack. Certain virus disable your task manager. To solve this, scan your computer with a good antivirus software and remove the virus. But in most cases you won't be able to restore the task manager with the antivirus application. So the best method is to backup your documents on the the drive where OS is installed and reinstall your OS.

Hi masters: My computer go realy slow, when you stop using it for 10 min.I have installed a CA security anti virus, etc ,but still reporting one virus that the CA anti, hasent been able to clean so...

You need to find the path to where the virus file is located & delete it you're self. You're antivirus software should show you where it is located. Once you delete the virus file, shut down the PC. Unplug the power cord from the PC. Open you're case & remove you're memory. Wait about 15 seconds & reseat you're memory. (make sure you're memory is seated correctly).
Removing the memory clears the memory from memory virus).
Close you're case & reconnect the power cord. Boot the PC. Once windows has finished loading run windows diskClean, than run windows defrag. (may take some time). After defrag has finished restart you're PC. Run another virus scan. If you're virus software still finds a virus or you're system & its still running slow the virus may have damaged windows files or windows registry. A reinstall of windows may be needed. If you have system restore turned on than the virus is most likely being stored in one or more restore points.
Remove infected files that you cannot clean in the System Restore data archive. To completely and immediately remove any infected file or files in the data store, turn off and then turn on System Restore. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Performance and Maintenance, and then double-click System.
3. Click the System Restore tab, and then click to select the Turn off System Restore for all drives check box.
4. Click OK, and then click Yes to initiate the restore point deletion.
To turn on System Restore again after the restore point deletion has completed, repeat these steps, but click to clear the Turn off System Restore for all drives check box.

Good Luck!

Mike
